Software you use for navigating through textures in windows?

Hey guys, I'm using windows 8.1, and I've got a lot of textures in different formats. I've been using the default explorer but I've come to a point where everything is disorganized, and there are some formats (eg Targa) that only open or preview in Photoshop.

So, what software do you use to navigate through your textures? I tried adobe Bridge some years ago but I remember it was kind of slow and sluggish.

For reference images I use Windows Photo Gallery. Spend one evening tagging images and you're left with something that can sort through thousands of images almost instantly.

I use xnview, but iv been thinking about switching to picassa. some folks at work use it and speak well of it.

Good post, just recently i was thinking about something similar, there was an other software but i can't remember the name, it wasn't free but loaded pictures really fast.

Anyone as an idea ?

EDIT: Ok i got it now it was called http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/ good toy but not free.

And I use XnView as my image viewer. It's similar to IrfanView, I just personally like it better.

What happened to PureRef?

PureRef is good, but if you have large files, it drags.

+1 for XnView as well, I really like it. It became the replacement from the time when Acdsee turned into crap.
