The expansion packs are still $20 for premium as well as any kit unlock costs. They'll get their money in one way or another. The stock BF3 is just meh, the expansion packs are where the bulk of the people are.

Man, the core game is 20 gb, hate to see what the add-ons do for the size.
I'd rather have a company offer a free game on their digital platform to get me to use it rather than force me to use it because a game I already paid for won't launch without it. Even if Origin turns out to be a frustrating waste of time, at the very least EA was nice about getting me to use it.
Keep in mind, EA is going to be giving away free games every month/couple of months, so be sure to check out Origin every few weeks. Last month they gave away Dead Space for free, my guess is their next giveaway will probably be Dragon Age since the next game in the franchise is right around the corner.
BF3 was a ton of fun although I personally hated a lot of the DLC maps since they were too tiny.

Fair enough! That's a point I hadn't considered since I'd already been forced in to using it.
Nonetheless, it's still going to remind me of stereotypes about drug dealers and 80's anti-drug PSAs.

Hopped in a server last night, seems to have a bit of a learning curve.
