Hi All,
For the past few months I've been slowly slowly chipping away at a scene based on the old school game System Shock 2 (1999), if you aren't aware of what the game is then you can check it out on steam.
Unlike my previous works, this is in CE3 - I got sick of light maps and thought I would give this a kick. With the approaching release of the PBR based ce3 update I have been loitering on it, researching how to make stuff do things.
I am planning on remaking this particular sequence: - spoiler warning!!

with a few extra additions here and there.
Anyways, you may have seen some of these shots in WAYWO thread.
My main drive for this is based on a concept by
JimHatama, you can see it below along with a shot of the 1999 shodan:
Here is the current state of the most progressed are, Shodans Chamber:
At this point, I haven't textured anything beyond a flat colour / normal map.
A shot of the initial hallway beyond the bulkhead you enter from:
A floating shot of Dr J Politos office, this will break apart to reveal Shodans chamber. Again, no texturing yet.
Good old Xerxes
and some obligatory work in progress shots from the initial stages:

Lastly, a rework of the protocol droid:
I hope to post some more as I progress, now the new PBR ce3 is out I will move in to that from here on.
any crits / comments would are welcome!
Cheers

I will say, maybe the lighting around Shodan could be creepier and a bit more cinematic.Feels slightly generic right now
You got some great progess here. I'll be watching this one.
Are you planning on recreating the whole sequence?
I wanted to make the first chamber on the ship where you level up your skills.
Great work, show us more
I think some of the pieces ion the corridor needs some supporting geometry or the fancy parallax AO CE got.. It feels flat atm..
I'm very much looking forward to an update!
I haven't played SS2 though I am well aware of its classic cult following and I gotta say your vision creeps me out. I find AI women creepy >.> Really good job.
you got an article on otaku ! http://kotaku.com/an-artist-is-faithfully-recreating-system-shock-2s-grea-1583254356?utm_campaign=Socialflow_Kotaku_Facebook&utm_source=Kotaku_Facebook&utm_medium=Socialflow
EDIT: as for the lighting, I agree that it might be a bit generic. Have you tried a low angle light shining up? Cliche, but it might make the scene more menacing.
Thanks for the feedback guys, I agree with it all and will do my best to accomplish it.
mikezoo - I plan on redoing the whole scene with a bit more before and after it, if it ends up taking too long I will make the best o what I have at that point !
Here is a flat
Also, kotaku! - wowzers, I went to the pub and expected a few replies but thats more than i could have imagined !
Nice work man!
Can't wait to see it done :):)
Go on, recreate the whole game.
Please keep it up as this is the best thing i have seen to my most favorite game.

It'd make a great wallpaper

It would be great to recreate whole game!))

Yes yes yes.
I don't have anything new to show yet as I am moving over to the new version of the engine, but here is an earlier shot of thedroid wit ha dirtier texture than the final:
