It's time to think of the future again. I meant next month :P
Voting is Completed
This is for June !!
- Same deal as before, folks. We the community as a whole will decide on what will we be working on for this upcoming month.
- Anyone can participate in the voting process, even if he or she doesn't participate in the Monthly Challenge itself
- You can vote on multiple pieces. Simply post or quote them in your reply.
- You may post interesting concept without actually voting for them. Simply state so when you do.
- If you want to discuss about the pieces, don't quote the images.
- The goal is to get better and to make stuff. So, pick challenging and fun piece (?)
- You will decide character budget on your own term. So don't base concept piece on low budget. Determine budget on the concept instead.
- If you already contact the creation of certain concept art, please state so as well (thus we don't all contact the poor guy with the same question). Usually I take it upon myself to contact the artists for permission.
- Voting ends on the 29th May.
- The actual challenge itself starts on 1st day of June, in its own thread which I will be creating then.
- Note that I will pick two or maybe three concept for next month. But I will not pick more than one of the same kind. (No 2 hard-surface pieces or 2 dude-in-armor pieces)
And, here are the juices to get us started. Post what you wanna work on. And quote what concept you like to vote.

I'll vote later (can't decide yet..)
Here's another nice one:
Every month there is always some rather....ambitious entries posted :O
This one could be fun!
Wrong URL there mate.
My biggest headache now is looking at every single concept all I ask myself: is a novice ass modeller who barely completes work gonna do something like that in a month? (let alone I don't have any substantial knowledge in anything outside of Max and photoshop.)
In short, not sure if these time trails is the place I should be at the moment.
This guy seems cool.
I don't necessarily consider it a bad thing if someone doesn't finish a character in the allotted time. There isn't any reason a person has to stop working on a model at the end of the month if they want to continue. To be honest though, I actually don't even care if they never finish it so long as they learned something.
I know that when I first came to the boards, the level of talent on PC was so high that I didn't feel worthy of posting anything I had made. I'd like to believe that this provides a venue for new character artists to break through that since instead of just dumping final renders folks are actively posting WIP images, asking for advice, critique, and so forth.
Yeah, that's totally it.
This is a challenge I'd love to take on.
I agree completely with your statement. I think though if you can finish up the month with a completed product and learned something you're golden. Cause uncompleted work isn't the best to put on a portfolio.
Ohh I really like this one.
I like these guys. This month I am participating
Any of those ! I dare you !
The dude on the right looks like technoviking
Some really awesome concepts in here guys!
my two propositions
These two have my vote
Definitely got my vote for this concept.
This one and I'm in!
I like these guys, out of my comfort zone as far as theme is concerned so I'd love to tackle it!
(because fightpunch FTW)
Norse postapo'? What level of badassery is this?
And I raise you with:
We didn't tackle the hardcore hard surface problem yet, I believe.
You sir are expressing the point that I tried to make back in the day I threw the idea on the board here on Polycount. Well that and providing artists with infinite amounts of feedback and advise from different skill levels and different points of view (I believe that if someone is a noob in a precise field doesn't especially mean that that precise someone is irrelevant in terms of criticism. I mean that in order to think outside of the box the easiest way to go is actually be outside of the box).
@almighty_gir: yeah, the idea of a sister thread with a monthly concept challenge has been raised in the past but no one has ever started any real talk with the guys out there I believe. But it would be an awesome idea to do such a thing. And it would be hard as f**k to manage too.
PS: Sorry for the long post, but one has to do whatever it takes to tsunami bomb you with concepts.
@Gir, I think that's a cool idea, though I will have to dig around some more. Haven't really dabbled into the 2D here at all.
Really dig the big shapes of this guy, be fun to get that volume, those shoes would be a bitch though.
Well, usually I get the artists' approval for the top voted pieces. Sometimes it's hard and sometimes it's easy to track down. If you, or anyone else, want artist' name of the not-winning pieces, you gotta do it yourself :P
Usually to find the artist a simple reverse search on an image is enough.
^ This. x10 I agree.
My vote. At least I might have time to make the teddy bear.
You should allow the top three in like this month. That way we have 4 options. 2 are of same universe.
