Twitch shuts down any stream that isn't a video game, pretty lame, I know.
not entirely true, I have a friend that streams DJ sessions under the guise of DJ Hero 3, but he also streams gaming from time to time, so it could have been the fact that he wasn't streaming games at all. either way, pretty stupid that they closed gir's channel down
I know i'd love to do streaming for my enviro art when I get the chance, but i guess twitch wouldn't be the way to go... pretty stupid if you ask me. maybe if we put "Game Art" into the title, they wouldn't care.
@Swizzle - Nice start man, but her shoulders are looking a tad to beefy compared to the rest of her body. But great progress none the less.
@Gir - Great to see you are charting your progress through twitch but is there any chance of a few pic to add into the mix? Nice choice btw. I hope you have something special planned with the foilage.
did about an hour and a half of streaming tonight, took some before/after screengrabs. before is on top, after is on bottom. still got a lot of work to do!
Still lots of things looking goofy here, especially the hair. I need to actually take the time to make it look right instead of just pretending it's some sort of weird helmet.
Totally cheated and used a cloth sim for the cape.
The whole thing with twitch is weird, lots of Dota 2 artists including myself have been streaming there for quite some time without issue. And Anuxi regularly sculpts balls on random creatures, sooooo....
todays progress - got the face where i'm pretty happy with it, started a basic polypaint, started on my hair planes (lol next gen couldn't handle this shit):
Awesome work Lee She's coming along nicely. Her lips are strong, definitely my favorite feature right now.
This is my only feedback and its mainly concerning her eyebrows. They're looking a little angry right now and are a bit too close. I painted over them following the concept. Included the makeup too for funsies and because it helps you see it better, I think.
I also tweaked the lips very subtly. Gave them a bit more of a heart shape. But that's up to you. All a matter of personal preference and taste
If you want to find out how Lee does his stuff, he should have the VoDs on his hitbox (even if he doesn't quite know what a VoD is)
I improved a lot just from watching and getting all kinds of tips from everyone in the stream chat. It's quite amazing and I'm very thankful. I suggest to come and hang out whenever possible as a newbie
hey man are you using refs of any sort for the head ? of a celebrety , or model etc ? right now she feels way too generic, her face has no character whatsoever in my opinion , i think if you picked a proper ref and stick to it it would have more oomph ! im saying this because you have grown immensely as an artist and this could be an opportunity to do something different imo ! Keep at it man !
What's crackin' little bitches? I've been busy with freelance and making absolutely ridiculous shit for Rust.
Just about ready to call the high-poly done and move onto retopo and stuff tomorrow. The cape hasn't changed since last post and people like looking at butts anyway, so no cape at the moment. Some janky shading going on there, though, so I need to see what those ass dimples are all about.
This is coming along nicely man! I have a few crits though, the first one is about her proportions, mostly the legs. They look a bit odd/stiff especially in side view. I'm not good at words so I did a quick liquify:
Second crit is about the leaves. They're mostly the same size so at a distance so they're hard to read and end up looking like noise. The hard transition of the leaves to the body is kind of jarring too, I think you could spread out some leaves of diminishing size to almost create a gradient for a softer transition.
I've got a leaf baked down onto a little plane that i can scale and place at will (I HAD FORSEEN YOUR CRIT, MORTAL), but it's good to get confirmation that it's falling into noise at a distance.
Very awesome progress guys, its a joy to watch this thread!
Swizzle: I think its pretty cool that you went a bit over the top with the general muscularity of your character. My only crit would be to soften the face up a bit (especially the chin area). Its sorta like the face doesn't match the body at the moment.
AlmightyGir: Very nice work, I especially like the face and the hair planes you got going. I agree with daphz paintover also. I was looking around on hitbox, did you record the part when you did the hair planes? When I load a video, I can't jump forward without it just freezing forever. So I have to watch it from begining to end or not at all, so if you did record the hair planes workflow I would love to know where it is.
dayum Swizzle, i like that, the muscle type fits her well. My only complaint would be that the inner thigh toward the knee looks funny. I think it's curving forward a little too much and ends up giving an unatural curve to the leg.
BradMyers82:
I'm definitely going to tweak her jawline a bit in the low poly, though I think part of the problem is the way Zbrush was shading things. It tends to really dig in with crevices and overlapping geo, so the chin may look a little sharper than it actually is.
Scythe:
Yeah, there's some janky shit going on with the legs. I'm going to smooth some stuff out and make that curve a little gentler to match everything around it.
Got started on retopo today. Haven't had a chance to work on this in almost a week, so it's not as finished as it should be.

thanks for this! looks like it could be a winner!
And we're off.

Did somebody say ART WAR!?
In b4 this sparks a modeling war across the entire website and we all build environments & armies to compete.
I would enjoy that.
Great work so far guys.

progress... green shit is just for guide only, hair is placeholder etc.
I think her arms are a little too chunky compared to her torso though.
I think her lower arms could use less bulk. The upper arms seem mostly goody.
Haha awesome work guys, fun to watch the progress, can't wait to see more progress!

May I vote for bigger bosoms on the Supergirl ?
So, basically turn her into Powergirl? :P

It's odd, because I have seen other artist effectively use twitch, even allegorithmic and unreal have channels dedicated to art.
That said, twitch.tv is just another version of justin.tv which targeted game streaming. Justin.tv is fine for any type of content I believe.
Damn, I think I just missed it.

Anyway, Gir, I'm very interested in how you make those cool hair planes. I really wanna get better at it.

Hairplanes were made with: http://www.jonathannasconeart.com/#!portraits/c14cx and a whole lotta love.
Loving it. Wonder how far swizzle is by now

depending on when i wake up.
it's been a loooong day today.
low poly is UV'd and ready for texturing! just block colours in toolbag right now.

hope that helps, keep pushin!

I'll adjust the legs too, soon.
Cheers Denny!
