Hello everyone,
im very new to the UV Master Plugin from ZBrush but it looks very easy to use - I thought.
Im trying to unwrap my model (torso + head + arm) and only the bottom half of the model is unwrapped correctly. The head get weird seams.
From what I can tell, the attract paint (blue) does not cover enough surface for the plugin to properly place seams so it still must improvise, which sometimes results in it ignoring your protect paint job.
In my opinion, UV Master is too messy for anything more than a quick 'n' dirty. On top of that, there's too much trial and error to get a decent unwrap. Maybe it's just me though.
You might want to consider just taking your character into Headus, Roadkill, Maya, Max, etc. and unwrap it there. It'll probably save you time and produce a much better result.
I use Blender and the program struggles with this "high" amount of polys. Usally I use the Blender tools, and that was my first try too, but it is almost immpossible to dont loose your nerves. Everytime you hit the "Unwrap Button", 20-30 seconds are gone.
I want to learn maya - I thinks it is now the best time, to get started.
I am back again with a solution - it is so simple as easy ... im feeling a bit stupid right now.
The UV Master is a real good tool to get your UVs free of stretch, but for setting up the seams it is better to use other tools (like Bartolon said).
Load your mesh into another application, set up the seams, unwrap it and now use the seams in ZBrush - it works very well
