Yo people ! Hope having good days with great art !
I just had a crazy idea and wanted to see what the reaction would be.
How about a one-of Character Art Challenge of Natalia Poklonskaya ?
If you don't know who is she or what the hell I am talking about here you go :
http://rt.com/news/prosecutor-natalia-poklonskaya-crimea-101/
Japan and all net are going crazy over her existance
Here are some arts I have found:
Okay so what I think about is:
- Model/draw/ render her as any type of character you want. She could be:
- A mecha pilot
- An angel descending to battlefield
- A super hero with secret identity
or simply a cute prosecuter which she already is.
No style or technical restrictions. Main goal is to have fun while making great art !
Only restriction would be time I suppose. After deciding what to do we would agree on a deadline and then start working !
So what are you people's take on this ? Would you be interested to make something about something that recent and fun ?
Looking forward to see the reaction

Just some food for thought...
Should be a lot of fun though.
@vargatom I think I understand where you're coming from. But nothing should stop an artist from making a contribution when he/she can if one wants to. I can sculpt Natalie Portman if I want to. I can sculpt Nicolas Cage, I can sculpt Churchill, I can sculpt Stalin, and I can sculpt Poklonskaya.
She may be cute but she belongs in prison at the Hague.
Art is driven by taste... and I have to state publicly that at least from my point of view this is kind of in very bad taste.
You see, when people of Otaku culture saw that there is actually someone that is both "kawaii" and still in a responsible position it was a moment of " Holy Pandas ! They exist !"
It is nothing more nothing less than this. Of course if an artist who has a very bad opinion about her can not picture her as a beatiful piece of art. But then again why not model jher as a comic book villian in this case ?
It is just whatever you guys see fit actually. As long as it is not insulting and/or offensive to the real person it is okay in my opinion.
Now this is ridiculous to the point I want to laugh. Where are you getting your information from? Whatever your source is, it's not objective. Poklonskaya has been a prosecutor in Ukraine for over 10 years. She just won't obey the orders of self-proclaimed and russophobic government in Kiev which was never even elected by the people.
If you're against Poklonskaya, then you're supporting this neo-nazi scum:

Chibi-style Hitler vs. Stalin comp ftw
The guy at 0:04 reminds me of one of the enemies in Doom 3 O_o
Also this thread holds opinions like:
...sooooo burn this thread with fire.
I am saying it again in capitals !:
It is NOT about political events IT IS about making art and having a ton of fun while doing it WITHOUT INSULTING/ OFFENDING ANYBODY during process.
It is perfectly okay if you are not interested or having very negative opinions about the person. Then go ahead and make a comic book type of villain. Blow off some steam ? ( Of course not INSULTING/OFFENDING the person)
This is not about Crimea/Russia ect... this is about a cute prosecutor who appeared and charmed a lot of people on the net and caused lot of art !
Without making sweeping generalizations about otaku culture or politics, I think this particular project would be a bit sexist. Considering the political and social context of the subject, there's no way an artist could depict this specific person and expect it to be received as (a) "prosecutie" by an adult audience.
That being said, it could certainly be received as a caricature either in favor or against her cause. But it wont be seen as a cute blonde in a suit.
So why does it have to be her? Why not just a cute lawyer?
::Correction, see Shiniku's post below... I need coffee.::
Why not try something like the daily sketches on CGTalk where someone comes up with a subject, in this case "the cute lawyer", and everyone makes their own depiction? The key is that the subject is not a real person.
Otherwise I agree on most of your points.
There are political connotations with this whether you like it or not, and turning this woman into a character just because she's cute seems a little insulting/sexist seeing as how she's probably worked hard to get to where she is, and this is just generalizing her based on appearance.
I get your points perfectly. Being cute shouldn't be the only point. But would that count as "sexism" ?
I mean just liked you said she probably worked her but off to get this rank but ours is just an ...admiration maybe ? Don't know the right wor here
Of course we should also respect other prosecutors who are strict looking, over their forties man ! NO DESCRIMINATION !
But Now that you mention it Equanim. HELL ! Why not !?
So maybe we should just turn this into a " Prosecutor's Challenge" just like you said ? Man that would be fun too
What do you people think ?
I dunno, I think she was named prosecutor exactly because she's a pretty young woman. Pretty simple PR, but judging by for example some of the posts here, it definitely worked.
If you want to create successful ppl who work hard, go make Bill Gates or Steve Jobs or w/e.
I'm not saying she's a nice or a good or a kind person. All I'm saying is "OMGWTF LOOK AT HER FACE!!! THAT FACE, MAN. THAT FACE!!! LET'S US MAKE HER PLZ PLZ PLZ!"
My thoughts exactly
