We are going with the Open reddit AMA for this. If you want to join in and have people know who you are, please fill in your details with the correct formatting in the document! Bad formatting will make me go crazy! lol

And "red moon guys":D!
I did not know that >.<
As for other people, Prosmology got a lot of items in during the spring event.
Oh man, I really appreciate the suggestion, but I am in no way even close to those guys!
I'd suggest Onilolz and Zaphk for the AMA
We haven't seen them in a while tho O.o
edit: On the other hand maybe it would be better to make a thread on Reddit and ask them to choose 10 artists to make AMA with?
We're always here, stalking you :poly124:
I'd suggest Don Don and Motenai
EDIT: Also, forgot to mention I'd be up for this
@Konras: Yeah I agree with that, let the community decide who they want to hear from
It sounds like it might get hectic and almost 100% be questions about software, but it could still be fun. More of an "Ask Us Anything".
Yeah, that would be pretty cool as a separate AMA or something. I'd be up for it.
I agree with this, personally I feel we should consider an "Ask the workshop anything" where any workshop artist can chime in. That way we can cover the entire spectrum, from the big guys to the little ones. Maybe encouraging and inspiring others to consider jumping on the workshop bandwagon.
Also, given the fact that we're all over the planet, maybe a 24 Hour AMA should be considered with artist jumping in and out when they see fit.
How long does an AMA usually go for? Will everyone be able to be available for it?
And I hope you guys get some interesting questions but I can imagine you will need to brace yourselves for a lot of this:
Q: What software do you use?
A: I use x,y,z. But any similar tool will do the job, its the artist not the software that counts.
Q: How much money do you make?
Q: Enough to live off/I supplement it with other work.
Will have to work out a formatting thing for it. Too tired now to do it Z_Z
Yeah, really really nice idea. We could setup a Google doc or something where people can inform their workshop URL and reddit username, then get everything into the main post for a group AMA
And I think a FAQ section or something would be very helpful so we don't waste time.
Sounds exciting!
The following could be a goto, people might see a item from a creator they like and have a specific question, might filter out the general questions if they can be targeted, and splits questions into fulltime / part time I suppose.
NickName - Occupation - Known for (Their best item?) - Twitter / fb
Cheers
I've gotten a few sets in but I also had never modeled before the dota 2 workshop opened, so I might be able to give a different perspective on some questions.
I don't create items all by myself, I only animate, rig and play with SFM, I think you're more then fine!
I suggest that we should put everyone's name into a "hat" and do one AMA a week with like 5-10 different artists. That way each question has the potential for a wide variety of different responses ranging from someone who's been doing it since the start of the Workshop to someone hoping to have their first item accepted.
Also, 90% of questions will be "how much money have you made?" haha.
TBH I'd be really interested in reading all the responses "we" (the hive Polycount Workshop mind) give as well! There could be some great insights and opportunity to shed a little more transparency on things.
I don't really see a point doing an AMA every week. It's not a bad idea, but there is just so much you can ask artists before the AMAs become pointless.
And yeah, we can expect 90% of the questions being "how much money do you make and what program do you use" haha.
Also I personally suggest workshop artists to be categorised into different groups: concept artists, modeller, animator and HUD artists. Gives the users a rough foundation on what kind of questions to ask. I'd be interested to answer questions related to concept creation process.
Regarding the money-making question, It's a sensitive issue to most/all workshop artists, must well ban that question in our rules?
Like: Sets > Couriers > Huds > Wards > Singles
I'm sure of which makes more money than others cause I haven't gotten anything in :poly141:

+1
He helped me a lot with more complex matters like the process or manual item compilation!
perhaps the weekend after or before easter?
