VOTING is OVER.
The most voted piece for April will be the Man and Monkey. | The official challenge for this will start in its own thread which I will create on the 31st March. Stay tuned.
Till Voting Ends on the 28th March.
Same deal as before, folks. We the community as a whole will decide on what will we be working on for this month.
Anyone can participate in the voting process, even if he or she doesn't participate in the Monthly Challenge itself
You can vote on multiple pieces. Simply post or quote them in your reply.
You may post interesting concept without actually voting for them. Simply state so when you do.
If you want to discuss about the pieces, don't quote the images.
The goal is to get better and to make stuff. So, pick challenging and fun piece (?)
You will decide character budget on your own term. So don't base concept piece on low budget. Determine budget on the concept instead.
Voting ends on the 28th March. Please refer to the countdown.
If you already contact the creation of certain concept art, please state so as well (thus we don't all contact the poor guy with the same question)
The actual challenge itself starts on 1st day of April, in its own thread which I will be creating then.
For a newb challenge, these aren't newb concepts at all...
Based on the results of last month, it seems a much smarter idea to drop the scope of the models to something a bit more simple, and focus on getting good results on that simplicity level...
No point modelling a cool cyborg robot if its going to lack some basic anatomy understanding, or texturing skills....
Even this is a bit complex but I think this would be more suited based on the results of models being produced
I just want to say there is no way anyone will finish the concept rino posted ( cyborg armor suit dude) in a month. We really should be dialing back the complexity of these concepts as most people aren't coming close to finishing them. I would also like to see some creatures thrown in here as well.
Here are a few concepts I think would work:
This would be my first time participating, but if people aren't finishing then, simpler is definitely my vote. I like the idea of working on something more stylized.
Im glad everyone can see my point, that anime character and the mech are WAY too advanced, and would require dedicated working hours and based on everyone's results Cloth and anatomy is still a weakness, so instead focus should be put towards that, which means all future models will at least look human and feel like they are wearing clothing,
Otherwise its going to be a thread of half completed work, and stunted passion as everyone struggles to bring together a concept that is too hard
I would also enjoy making this guy, but I feel the Doctor has a little bit more of a fine balance between, small detail, large form, and big shapes,
Really ? The no-detailed and stylized gang guy ? Over all other concepts here ?
My logic and my taste is invalid it seems
This months character was pretty complex, and as far as I understand it the character modeling thread is about variety and practicing different styles. It seems to me this character will also be good for practicing hand painted texturing.
Man and his monkey is the best choice for something like this because barely anyone even got close to finishing this months challenege and in terms of character design, the advisor wasn't even that complex.
Mob man is a great, strong, simple design. If you cannot take him to finish, then you need to really look at your own workflow and find the speedbumps which is almost the entire point of these challenges!
I am down for the mob dude...he's not as simple as everyone says (those that don't want to do him). He has some complex shapes that if done wrong will throw off his entire look. Bonus points if you make a good monkey too.

I haven't made a sexy lady in quite some times so I vote for this one!
I like this work.
Agreed.
Take a break from humans and get a little funky.
or any of these could also be fun.
I'll second this one since I've been commissioned to create him anyway.

i'd definitely agree this choice, cute little concept, still gives a lot of space for different approaches, overal a good beginnerfriendly design.

Down for a creature or super stylized mob this time. I will be able to participate.
