Quick question.
Any way to change the forum's black theme, it's seriously giving me a headache.
And to answer the inevitable pending question on why i don't agree with the black theme:
- Personal preference, and the green text and the headache.
Thanks guys :poly121:

A professional forum like this, surely must have different themes to please the majority of it's users?
Regarding the monitor :
Dell Ultrasharp pre-color corrected.
That's ok though, i can always replace my eyeballs when they wear out.
Plus, a forum this broad, must be some tutorials on how to model me a fresh pair if everything else fails.
Thanks for the help guys.
Of course, it's far from perfect, but personally i like it better now.
You have my sincere thanks cryrid
[Edit:] Good thing I'm wearing sunglasses in my icon...
Edit : And there are as many studies in favor of black over white as there are on white over black, and most of them are aimed at people with dyslexia or photophobia.
I'm just going with whatever works best for me.
In other words ... telling someone "nah, you don't need that" sounds a lot like the stuff one can read on the Apple fanboy forums out there
(unless you were just being sarcastic here and it totally went over my head !)
OP : I agree that a choice in themes would be great, since not all screens (and users !) are the same. I actually believe there used to be an option like that somewhere but it might be unavailable now.
Possible changes to the forums have been brought up here before in very open-minded discussions ; you might want to contact username "adam" about this feature, as he is one of the main moderators here.
Thank you for bringing that up !
Perhaps not many people care about the forum theme, ergo the lack of options.
OVERTHROW OUR POLYCOUNT OVERLORDS! I'm with you Bleed! You've inspired me!

This.
Also, the PC admin team deliberated over this with some limited input from the entire forum a long time ago. You cheeky fuck.
Also, what the hell's a "cheeky fuck" -- are the insults rolling in already?
Good on ya for changing it up to meet your needs though. Obviously a lot of us like the light on dark, but doesn't mean its universal.
Don't worry about insults. Just means they like you. If you start getting cat pics for responses, that's a sign of trouble.
That would be awesome. Probably get some amazing layouts. Along with lots of really really bad ones.
Not a bad freaking idea at all, espeically since it saves any of the owners from doing it themselves.
Also the insults only start coming when you start seeing cats in the thread.

But your messing with a theme where most of the community members pretty much has made the forum their home for over 5 years so just be cool and we'll be cool, we are all silly bastards here i think.
Some of us are unpredictable though also that cheeky comment could be an upbringing thing not meant to be offensive, translation = smart guy ? idk.
Damn the web and the unknown meanings sometimes, got me in trouble plenty'o'time.
I didn't know about the css editor cryid, thanks!
This way it's not obvious I"m browsing polycount at work - not that I ever do that of course...
He's joking I don't think anyone is genuinely annoyed
If they are you should fight them!
And for the last time, it's not my calibration or monitor, I'm looking at a $800 professional equipment here (excuse the brag) it is factory calibrated to perfection.
And to the people who say there is very little black in the theme.
- Mates, i think you have been staring so long at it that you are practically immune or blind to black by now.
Most art game studios are pretty dark, that's probably why everyone prefers the dark theme. If you're in a brightly lit area then you'll want a brighter theme.
Can i calibrate my monitor far enough that it starts looking like that screenshot i posted? That's the only case i see where calibration would come into play.
So based on a number of posts above it seems I'm not the only one who thinks lighter themes are a good option.
Needlessly antagonistic. Don't be that new guy that comes in and pisses off everybody in the forum. Color Theory is one of those topics we spend our whole careers mastering.
correct, a bright theme in a dark office is headache inducing. Most game studios are dark.
Although black and gray is at such a basic level that it just came naturally to me.
Ok so bring on the brighter theme, what am i paying taxes for!
Oh, wait...
Well shit, I've been doing it wrong.
I think he was right, but i am not immune to the blackness.
I fear purchasing a spyderelite i think i won't even see a difference and all those bad stories of SE not working "perfectly", uhg, decisions decisions, would purchasing a new Monitor defeat the purpose?
Since we are on the monitor and scheme conversation along with color theory let's make use of this thread.
Please at least offer an alternative especially for tablets which tiny enough to start with.
Btw I can barely what I am writing so forgive the typos. Dark themes are okay at night low light but otherwise terrible.
Peace

Works great in firefox
As far as themes go I find the dark themes a bit dated and somewhat claustrophobic. My favorite forum theme is the Truefire one I am a member of: http://truefire.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?6-Forum-Welcome-Center they just renewed the forum. Their work areas are a mix of light greys and the default size of the pages ( Cntrl + 0 ) are not that microscript we all suffered in the days of trendy flash sites and the webfonts revolution
But everyone to his own I say
An I aint fitin' Choo or any of you Choos!
But the theme is fine for me, and I usually suffer from migraines, the poly count theme actually helps me, weird.
Lets all get along xD
Love,
Beardy
Nice job being a snarky ass.
It's a personal problem you have not a universal problem.
and at sunset it warms up the monitor color and reduces harmful blue light, feels really
comfortable for working, although the default settings are too strong
https://justgetflux.com/
If you turn it off at night, you really notice the difference and how harsh the default monitor
light is to the eyes
Also dont forget everyone percieves colors a little differently as eyes are not equal, and monitors the same, calibrated or not
Was hoping this thread would just reenter the depths of forgotten threads lol.
