Need some suggestions on portfolio please!!

I recently lost my job due to budget cuts and have been in the process of polishing and adding to my portfolio. I am looking for feedback and suggestions on the layout, organization, and any work that you all think could be hindering the quality of my portfolio. You can view my site at www.nickolasjjackson.com.

For the environment props and asset sections of my site, is it better to post the zbrush sculpts, final versions, or a mixture of both? Thanks for the help everyone!!

I'll pass along some advice I was recently given which seems to have really improved the overall layout of my portfolio. I'd look into using a website other than Carbonmade or anything that uses lightbox as their image viewer. You're not able to save the screen shots you uploaded, which hiring managers tend to do if they really like your work. I found Weebly to be the perfect answer for this. To save high def versions of your work, you can upload your image to imgur or whatever you usually use to upload your posts here. Then copy and paste the "direct link" to your site so that employers can select the image and view it in it's intended size. Plus now they can download it. With that being said, I'd put your contact information on each image. If they save your work to their computer they'll need to know how to contact you ;).

I really love your beach scene! Definitely a great idea to have it as the first thing you see when coming to your website. I feel like your individual prop projects can be filed under one category. Especially since most of the images are of different angles. Solid work you have going on! I'm jealous of the Firewalker. It's fantastic :D

    - Layout is fine. Carbonmade tends it keep it very basic and easy to use. however I don't use it because of its design limitations
    - Way to much text in my opinion for the about me section. I didn't read it but a quick over view tell's me most of the stuff you talk about should be the kind of stuff on your Resume not about me section (ex. Education, Software Knowledge) I'd keep it to about the 1st paragraph and cut the rest. Employers might be put off or just wont read it if they have lots of people to get through
    - I really don't like gallery view and I've been advised against it, to much clicking

    Portfolio work itself:
    - The Photography section....it looks cool and there's some great shots, but I'm not sure its relevant.
    - The Firewalker, Drones & MFV could all be in 1 section under Vehicles or Props if you Include the Brownie Camera, I see no need for having 4 sections
    - Keeping Environments separate though is ok since they tend to have more Content to show
    - Your Beach bar, Rocks & Textures look Great! There your best pieces, based on there quality I'd almost look to remove the Freelance section and maybe the Brownie Camera, they show no were near the texture quality that the Beach bar has, But thats up to you

Hope this helps! Happy job hunting

So I made some changes to reduce the number of sections on my site. I do have the option to make each section as a list. This is the only way I can set it up so they can save images directly from my site. I am hesitant on combining my Brownie Camera with my props because I do not want it to become this long section of images. I will add to it in the future as I complete more projects. I also removed my freelance section.

My old site used to be a wordpress site and it worked pretty well. The only thing that bothered me was that there was a lot of clicking to get from one place to the next. With the carbonmade site, it made things much simpler and straight forward. I have seen a lot of artists use weebly. I'll take a look into it and may switch to that.
