Marmoset 2 Scene - Tarot Room

Hello everyone,
I have been working on this in the hangout for the past few months. I am approaching what I would call finished with it and would like to get a little C&C. To make it awesome. It has been great fun and I look forward to the next project.

Did you turn on the local reflections and ambient occlusion? Right now the meshes seem to be floating and it's kind of weird.

They are both on, not sure what would be causing it to look like that.

Aww yeah. It has been wonderful watching this progress in the g+ hangouts; you've packed so much awesome stuff into this well thought-out scene. So much that individual assets deserve a screenshot of their own. It was also interesting to hear the symbolism behind each piece that gives this scene some backstory—I wonder if that is something that should be included on your portfolio or not? I would say so; as long as the text doesn't take up too much space.

I do agree that you should play with the AO settings; the edges of the fountain on the right hand wall for example don't seem to have much AO I think it would blend better if it did. Also, perhaps make the blood under the chair dried blood? Maybe it's just this angle but having it a lightish red but with no highlights or reflections looks a little strange. My only other suggestion is post more screenshots :) I'm sure some people will be interested in hearing your thoughts on tb2 for constructing environments too.

Fantastic work man. I'll be sure to closely watch whatever you work on next, for both enjoyment/inspiration and knowledge.

    Thank you Ben,
I will have to sort out what is going on with the floating assets. I cranked up the AO on the camera and noticed hardly any difference. I will try moving the assets closer to the surfaces they rest on possibly.

Marmoset 2 was nice to work in. There were a few little quirks that I have mentioned in the thread and/or to EQ.

I intend to gather some screenshots of individual assets together or even just some close ups of sections of the room (possibly later tonight).

I took another look at the AO issue it seems like it may be a "quirk" of marmoset. AO seems to work fine when you have 2 objects touching with a sky light. Adding a point light and getting rid of the sky light makes the AO between two objects vanish even if you crank it way up to 5k-10k. Even indirect lighting on the surface seems to get rid of the AO. I could go back through and bake all of that AO...

I got some feedback from people in the hangout and Scott Homer was nice enough to do a paint over. I have made some corrections. This is where it stands right now.

Finishing this up, will take C&C. Would like to thank everyone who helped me along the way and the awesome polycounters on the hangout who made this project that much more enjoyable. Can't wait to see you all at GDC :)

Looking pretty good. First thing that stands out to me is that trim on the roof and the fireplace. Its all made out of stone or marble right? I think it needs a bit more material definition to sell it.

How's Marmoset 2 for making full scenes like this? Didn't even know people were using it for that sort of thing.

    - its look like one of your ambient light doesnt have shadow on.

    - marmoset 2 still doesnt have true GI, so if you turn on background HDR it wont cast shadow.
that why background reflection wont work well in marmoset interior setting.

    Little update:
Checked all of my lights and there were a couple with cast shadows unchecked but they weren't affecting large areas.
It could be the sky light causing what you are seeing.
    Tweaked the stone a bit.
Marmoset 2 has been nice for creating a scene there are a few things it is missing and a couple little bugs that when fixed will make the experience better.

A couple of awesome fellows helped me with composition last night. Still a couple more things to do like add atmosphere, some sort of god rays. I feel like it is getting closer to what I want.
