Reserving my spot! Wanted to do something along the lines of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon...lots of colourful vegetation and maybe some wildlife...waterfalls etc.
Hey guys, I'm at work 9-6 but will definitely work on this on the nights.
In the mean time, I've started a pinterest board of inspiration and reference for the things I'm going for Also watched all of the tutorial videos last night and installed the engine!
Been having a bit of a problem since I moved to Malta and don't have my PC, and my laptop is a dickwad of a machine. Wouldn't detect my tablet, then the driverswouldn't run...gahhhh..
Anyway, got it all fixed, watched all the Anarchy videos, and installed the engine. After I did a few sketches in my notebook then did a silhouette, which eventually led to this concept.
This is purely visual, but you can get a sense of the design I am going for.
Looking cool so far. I'd pop it in the engine. Try to get the cameras figured out like you want. I noticed the default one is only pointing down. So you don't see a lot of stuff.
YOUR CANOPY LOOKS WAY TOO MUCH LIKE AN UMBRELLA PLEASE FIX THAT.
Haha, I joke, I joke. Really though, this is coming together pretty strongly. I'm excited to see it in engine with some actual lighting on it. What par do you imagine this hole being?
You have a very powerful sketch and it would be nice to see similar artistic look in your 3D design. I would recommend you to redo the shape on top of the tree and make it look more like your initial concept - your scene does not look like it has reached the poly gap yet, maybe you can add more geometry on top of the tree to have more to work with, or go for plains and alphas - also the current texture on top of the tree looks stretched and more like lotus leaves that would normally float on swamp water.
From the camera angle of your latest update the mid and the rock in the back looks very identical - it would be nice to see more variety in the shapes and maybe you can scale down the rock in the back a bit to achieve more depth. And make the bridges look less symmetrical.
I am loving this concept and I am looking forward to see the final blookout. Best of luck to you
Thanks Amipor, the canopy was done in about 2 minutes flat just to have something to put there but thanks for the feedback. The islands and bridges are still hideously similar so I will fix that too
THIS IS ALL SO WIP OH MYYY PLEASE DON'T JUDGE ME! Really struggled to find work inbetween 9 hours of work a day and crazy Malta life, but here ya go.
The bridges still aren't complete and the islands need changing bad!
This is looking fantastic and so whymsical! I really struggle with saturation and find that a lot of my stuff comes out looking very grey. I think you did a great job pulling off the bright colors.
I really like how this is coming together so far! The vibrant colors are great; it looks so lush! Will the plants be part of the obstacles, or can you hit the ball through them?
Looks good so far as always Emma. I would really reiterate to get this in engine and playable ASAP. It will totally change you view on what you should focus on. I know for me it did.
This is really coming along nicely! Have you tested it in the engine, as Jeff has already mentioned? It looks like the ball would roll off with some of the angles you have with your islands. I ran into the same issue with my course and ended up having to make my islands completely flat on top. Even the slightest angle would cause the ball to roll on its own.
The scene is already in engine here (it's lit in fullbright mode) but you're right about getting started on the design.
Everything is setup, you're right about the whole ball sliding thing, but I decided I'd get the art done first - what can I say, I'm an artist, and an impatient one at that -.
I think one more day spent on the art, and then I'll delve into the design and come back and fix everything that the design wrecks...
Nice
Hope you dont mind, i did a quick paintover with a couple of scene tweaks -
Personally I think you need to push the midtone of the scene up a bit, it's currently super bright everywhere.
I also tweaked the colour of the soil at the base, seperates it a bit more from the red flowers and reduces the overall red of the scene as its reaalllly red right now
Just opinion on these tho
There's no hole or flag in that one Steve but my plan had been to get the design implement last weekend, but turned out
I had an infected wisdom tooth and have never felt so ill in my whole life.
I'm going for a consultation today but it looks like I'm gonna be on strong antibiotics then in surgery to get them out...honestly don't know if I'll be able to finish this, I slept 14 hours last night and couldn't eat the whole of yesterday..
Hopefully I'll be able to get it finished with the extended deadline now but it doesn't look hopeful
Lovely Texture work Emma! I would love to see this lit with some light sources. Shadows would give it more depth. Anyways great entry, your work has come a long way since that light house you made!

Here's some uber shitty quality screenies of the modelling progress. Obviously canopy is just for a test and will work on it more today.
I like the composition. I'm currently working on a bridge too. I'm stuck between several approaches to making it modular though
Bridge madness

Can't wait to see more!
The artwork is looking great though!
