Game is drop dead gorgeous. Yes the dlc scamming fiasco with 2k sucks and I was a bit hesitant on how much "meat" the core game has but it seems incredibly solid for the type of arena-esque shooter it always set out to be.
In the strangest twist of things playing offline with bots is actually really damn fun, probably a better core evolve experience than playing online with complete strangers as every player is playing the role accordingly and when the game is on its right "flow" its alot of fun.
The only real issues are the learning curve is steeeeeeeeep. Playing as a monster is a bewildering thing to grasp as your armor value allows you to engage in fights more often than you think but it feels really unnatural to do so at first which makes alot of online games turn into a big chase all the way until the monster hits stage 3 which can be a bit of a drag. The game overall feels really balanced probably too balanced aimed squarely at advanced levels of play which makes the initial hump to get over a bit off putting I wager.
I guess what I am trying to say is I shared alot of concerns folks have had but the game has been a very pleasant surprise, it only ever set out to do one thing and once you get a grasp for what that is the game is a ton of fun. I say this as someone who was even a bit turned off by both the alpha and beta.
As for the dlc, its all cosmetic stuff at the moment with additional characters later on, so no its definitely not a pay to win scenario at all.
One last note, something I actually really enjoy I didn't realize the game had were match modifiers that can spice things up a bit some of which are really fun/hilarious.
