Hi everyone, here i'm looking for help. sadly Google don't help about this, now i'm here. okey, guys who know how to make item custom effects for dota2.
This is my first workshop item http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=207109174&tscn=1388168205 and i feel this item really need some effects. please, who can help me, i need your beam of knowledge!
I think I can help you. If there is an item with a particle effect in existence you can basically alter the effect for this item and overwrite the ingame files if you know your way around the particle editor.
I did this in a collaboration with a few guys for this item or this one.
So generally: Yes, it's currently possible to create and test weapon effects for heroes that have at least one other particle effect weapon. Mind though that Valve has never accepted self-made particle effects before and the chances that they change their mind are rather... slim. Still, it might work at least as some form of extended preview or concept for what effect you had in mind.
If you want to give it a shot and need some help feel free to add me.

Is there a way to have animated textures or glows or textures with transparency?
If not what do you think the chance are that Valve would collaborate with a user?
