After finishing up Crysis 3 some of the Artist (including me) went over to Ryse to help out a bit. Here are some pics of the far away vista´s in the game. This was my task and also doing some small assets plus a bridge.
As you can see in the on and off gifs - its alot to fill up in the distance. Together with Margaret Wuller (matte painter) and the light artist of each level we finished the task. For the city backgrounds i modelled some small lowpoly city dioramas to copy/paste them in the level for the nature stuff, alot of big mointain pieces helped to fill up the scene.
And here are some beauty screens of the bridge.
Here you can see a scene with all the low lowpoly city dioramas (not in the official level)
These look great! What was the workflow for making each diorama and what was the matte painter's role besides the skyboxes? Did you bake down to low poly cards from high polyassets?
