Hello guys. My first post here. I'm working on a LS7 V8 engine, and since it's really a highly complex model, it's gonna take time....... But, to take a break from it, i decided to model this carburetor intake manifold for the LSX-LS7 V8 engine, it will be put into the LS7 when it's completed, along side with the stock intake manifold. Full high res images.

Youre not gonna bake it down right ?
Milled aluminum or steel whatever it is usually has a really sharp edges depending on the surface, and all your edges look kinda game ready. Like no normals lowpoly sharp, the edges are microscopic (well theyre done in CAD apps
and they dont model edges for many parts with their nurbs and stuff.)

Render looks nice, the exact material is not really apparent to me however, but its shiny and has good contrast

Here is a nice gallery of engineering viz, some are not that spectacular, but there are really nice ones between, and youll notice what they have in common

Hello. Tks for the input Shrike. And you're right, i'm not gonna bake it.
About the edges, this intake is actually made by casting, and then some areas are machined after, therefore, some edges are really soft, and some edges are really really sharp, like the top of the intake where the carburetor is placed, the gasket on the end of the intake, 4 holes on top for the screws.
I still made those edges relatively sharp, however, i still wanted some small curvature so that it could capture lighting better, and dind't want them to look like they were made using cad or solidworks or anything like that, and that's why it's like that.

Indeed there are some very nice renders, however i din't go for a more cad render like, because that's not what i wanted, i still wanted a movie/game feel to it, something like that.

    Again, Thank you.

Seeing as you won't bake, I'll save the edge lecture.

I do have to say though, The most delicate way I can, why the fuck would you carburate one of the most fuel efficient V8's ever made? Seriously man...:D

Otherwise, Looks awesome ^^ Can't wait to see the engine develop! It sucks in a way to see you doing a Carb, Cause now I know there won't be any turbos or a blower :(

    hahahaa tks s6.

But don't worry, it will be a bone stock LS7 engine, with the stock manifold, but i will also use this intake to make some renders.
And who kwnows, maybe i'll even throw a supercharger on it when it's done. ;D

Well, Seeing as you are doing different configurations, and if I may be so bold to suggest another alternate, I've always loved the look of the carbon XR style intakes. I modeled it a few months ago, And it went pretty quick. Maybe 4-5 hours on it. Something about the symmetry of it, Looked nice.

    (sorry for big image)

Paired with....Oh. Idk....... A couple Turbo downpipes....Hmmmm. Might look pretty slick ;)

But i'm sure whatever you choose to do will look nice. Looking forward to it. Hijack over.

A turbo setup is also a great ideia, might end up doing both, just for fun. ;D
