A character challenge in the spirit on the monthly Noob challenge?
I am aware of the fact that a similar thing was attempted a while ago (cf.
http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79663&highlight=character+noob+chalenge)
But wouldn't it be great to have a similar system of monthly challenge/ skill building event that whould present the community with a theme on a defined 2D concept? (maybe even create a second thread for the guys who are more interested in the 2D stuff and each month, select the income from the 2D thread to fuel the 3D thread)
Anyway, I just want to know if such a thing is interesting enough (I think it is, but a community challenge needs a community) so that we figure the best way to do it and MAKE THIS THING REAL!
So, all in favor, raise the hand!

Disclaimer: I will likely not be able to participate, but at least those threads are fun to watch.
haha, I feel the exact same way. I love keeping an eye on these threads to learn all kinds of neat tricks from different people like the environment challenge thread, I just do not have the free time for it. Still, I hope it takes off
let's do it.
Let make it happen !
Everyone should do the same concept art, And post WIPs. That's great way to improve, study others' workflow and ask why.
I think Kapoff's suggestions in the original post are good. I guess we need to decide on a concept the most poeple would like to work on and start.
Are there any other steps we need to take before jumping in? Should we wait for more people?
I am all in. Not much time because if uni but will try to contribute!
Just use the same way as it is now for enviro. Make thread with concepts, propose few concepts, and let people vote on what they want to work on. Whatever wins, we will work on it for month.
I would love to make (Chaos) Space Marine or Eldar Warlock. But I will try to do anything that wins. After all, that is the challenge. Do things that you might not like to do in the first place (;.
We could set up a concept voting thread soon to start posting concepts and voting for them. If the response is good we can kick off the first challenge in January.
If you need a hand setting it up Kapoff I'll be glad to help. Just hit me up with a pm.
as an artist you will rarely ever be tasked with working on something you truly love. get used to making things you might not be "in to".
There it is! I added a poll for the subject but I think it was a terrible mistake since I can't see any edit or delete button anywhere...
I see. I see. That works! I'm down with whatever I'm just excited to get started. This thread is a long time coming.
