Hello guys i recently switched to 3ds max from maya and i have a problem what would be the workflow for unwrapping an environment in 3dsmax? i've got all the shells but i can't pack those in 0-1 space because i can't select all my object and do a unwrap uvw modifier.. I have to attach everything?? this confuses me a lot because in maya i could simply open the editor and do the packing!! thank you and i hope someone can help me.

Then use the pack function inside the unwrap.
You can try to put the same material temporaly on everything because looking for maps make the unwrap very slow.
Also you could try to pack only few objects each time, resize each square independently to make an atlas.
