The competition
the idea of the competition is to create items in a friendly environment and with the feedback of the other participants to get the best result possible.
The single item style is good for the guys that are not used to make items, sometimes they just need a little pull with references and deadlines to get an item done
From this month, its mandatory to post the work in progress, or else the submition will not be accepted!

set_name - name of your set, use equal as on the workshop
workshop_user_link - your workshop page, so people can browse your other items easily
Username - the name you think its easier to people find you, can be the one from polycount or the steam
item_link - the workshop page of your item
thumbnail_img - the image link of the thumbnail that is INSIDE your item page on the workshop
(the thumbnail is the one with 200 pixels wide, you can get from your items page or add Code:

Rules
- open for teams of any size
- its allowed one item per hero per team/person ( two or more items for the same hero made by the same team/person will not be accepted)
- everyone should keep posting feedback on other works, the feedback should be constructive
- the final submition need to be a single item to a Radiant Hero
- it must be submitted to the workshop before the deadline but not before the start of the competition
- The item should be made on the month of the competition, its ok to continue one started earlier, but you should work most of it during the month
- the deadline is the last day of the month at 23:59 (since we live in different timezones, some submitions may be accepted couple hours after the deadline)
- From this month, its mandatory to post the work in progress, or else the submition will not be accepted!

Wow, that's really awesome. Please keep us at Valve informed so we can help draw attention to the winners, progress threads, etc.
Some advice:
Try to give some attention to heroes that are under-served so far (in terms of amount of content).
The success of sets tracks well with the popularity of the hero. (Although popularity can vary between updates and as Icefrog changes balance.)
Look for heroes that the community seems to have trouble creating content for. Good work can really open up the design landscape and help people think about the dynamic range of potential designs.
Don't forget about single items (instead of full sets). Many of the most popular items in the game are single items. Mounts and weapons make good candidates for this, but it varies by hero.
Mix up these approaches. So maybe one month you do a popular hero and another month you do a hero that has few items.

we were having a lot of finished entries without any information of how it was worked, one of the interest of the contest is to help new guys to get into the workshop, the WIP help them get inspired and see the workflow
i am a 2D artist and i hav no intentions to do 3D artworks (headache issues all the time LOL)
but i would LOVE to passively participate - just for portfolio purposes
not asking to be a winner but i too wanna get some couple of feedbacks
kinda hard to explain - but does this ok for me to do so?

if you concept something, you can teamup with someone else to do that in 3d or make a hud based on a female hero

edit: just checked, on the german requirements page he is definetly male.
It's a good point dude, in dota 1 weaver is female, but in dota 2 i rly dont know, i'm a bit confused,haha, that voice it's like a old woman voice for me, but if u see the lore,sounds like weaver is rly a guy...omg, if u are correctly, we just have less female characters,sad =/

EDIT: if anyone was interested this problem was solved by switching coords in xNormal bake options from X+ to X-

What's that yellow glow?
I'm moving forward with pa's helm concept. I'm not really sure where I'm heading: it looks too modern maybe. I don't like it very much actually, but I'm not sure if I can think of something better, so I'm very unsure of what to do with it!

I feel sculpting is my weakest point in the workflow so if you guys have any advice I'd greatly appreciate it!
Edit: Remade the sculpt because I lost the save, took what I learned from the first one and I feel it looks much nicer now
i love the modeling and textures but i find the "anatomy" a bit strange. I think this would look better
It looks great with the current animations. Flipping the blades would look weirder.
It's a particle effect. I am not really sure when it appears on her weapon in-game, but she has one. Custom particle system is broken right now though so it's not following the blade in the screenshots.
EDIT: the new progress thingy didn't catch my eye so here the pictures:

I tried doing a basemesh and sculpting those things in there but I'm pretty bad at reproducing stuff like that so eventually Mr Scrake did the texture without em and we baked the normals from diffuse using crazybump
Cutting out the sculpting part, I just made the LoD0 without having to deal with retopo:

Damn, I wasn't the first this month =(
It's the effect from skilling her ult, Vendetta. I believe its the silhouette of the original blade she has.
Also whenever I try to compile this dota crashes as soon as I hit import, works fine for weapons and everything though, anyone have any ideas?
