Found some time to redo my medusa stone form set which Im working on with snowstorm- i tried to make it more into gold war armor thats slowly being petrified
im probably gunna spend some time going back through this thread and turning all of the half baked ideas into something a bit more final and polished
One last thing for today... been on a drawing spree at the moment
Its my Crimson Fist Tusk set reworked- the ancient ice hockey gear and rusty old icebreaking tools that Tusk used to wear in his younger years as a vigilante on Icewrack.. shame he's put on weight since then.
Why do I see these wards as couriers?!
Teenage mutants ninja TUSKS!
Actually this is a super helpful question.. it made me realize what is wrong with them. They look like they should be able to walk around and run away instead of standing in one place. I think they need a proper pedestal to stand on or it just looks like they are standing there for absolutely no reason.
Made some quick sketches straight away of some different size tree stump pedestals- feel free to say which you think would look best (im thinking medium.. or maybe big)

perhaps the final update from me on the clockwerk set. trying to make a face thats very non-deformed (which is weird for clockwerk) while still looking recognizable and interesting
edit: plus very small change to wing shape (i think double layer of wings was the main reason for futuristic look- plus curved the top a bit to make it less triangular):
I love all the reds, I agree with ghostdetector though, a bit too much. Just need to add more blue in the lower half (maybe more like your original concept). At the moment, there is no contrast between the leg wrap and his skirt (since they're similar shades of red) can't see the silhouette
messing about with this idea for totem tiny.i wanted to make a dota totem pole with lots of different heroes on it for his aghanims tree, but idk which heroes to use yet. i will probably use troll warlord and phoenix at the least because they really translate well (i think)
Thanks, and ah, I see. Are they making the 2nd one? I think my design will be pretty different from this one, especially with some nice colors on the totem and arm. The tiny set Im most worried about it clashing with this this one:
@Pipotchi: I really like the idea. But plz no rock face on the arm... XD
It also doesn't look like anything in the DC video so I think you're good to go
@Reza: Woooooooww WTF...
I've seen the temple ideas for tiny more than once and I've actually wanted to make an aztec tiny myself. Tiny is hero for which you get a lot of similar ideas, I suppose (I've actually made a quick test greek-pillar model once, just to see how it looks in game and several weeks later someone submitted the same idea to workshop) so it's understandable. But still, what's with this DC monopoly again...
(But then again, DC concepts do seem quite inferior to some I've seen already)

Sure, I meant just have that in mind so that you won't get to a similar point. Yours is enough different if you keep your direction.

Yep, agreed. so far there is no design that no one would have thought it. Mainy because of the nature of the hero I assume
I worked on a few things- firstly, trying to improve the dazzle staff as advised- perhaps this one will be better too because it wont swing and that saves from some potential problems.
Second, added some test colors to tusk here:
Third, drew out this first sketch of an AM set. Perhaps too akuma but its still in development (i was inspired by ikes antimage so i tried to draw something that also pushed him out of the typical am colors and shapes)
I think the dazzle will be different enough, but I will keep an eye out for it just incase
Currently trying to complete Rotworm set with Hopgood. I made these custom ability icons since I noticed that was a popular request on sets. What do you guys think? I wanted to keep them very similar to the current necrophos icons because we arent changing any particles for his spells or anything, so dont wanna give a false impression.
Thank you! I dont remember seeing any info for custom ability icons, but I might be wrong. I dont think there is any way to test them out ingame, so they aren't "offically" supported but they have been accepted and implemented before so I would just try it out. The size of the icons on the dota 2 gamepedia wiki are 128x128 i think, so i would use that as a guideline (hopefully someone else can be a bit more helpful, sorry!)
Progress on the tiny set, I have the aghanims "tree" drawn out. I think I will stick with these heroes for the totem since they are the closest to warm wood colors that should workw ith the rest of the set.
thanks! perhaps with some more work i can style it even more towards that.
Working on the totem tiny. this is the lv0 tiny, hopefully trying to give the impression of being half excavated from dirt like the easter island heads (although the rest of the set is not rly aiming for easter island heads, more towards general polynesian wood and stone statues)
and now for something newer, i scrapped my old shadow demon progress and tried to work off the original again. ended up making this rocky runic prison type SD:
this isnt for workshop but for fun- i tried to redesign OD. i love the voice acting but i dont really like the chalk floating centaur thing atm so i drew him as something else
I made these rough colors for the od redesign a few days ago- now Im wondering if i can actually use parts of this for a real od set o_O
head could stay mostly the same with a color change, billowing cloak could replace wings, staff could work without scryers orb (or think of a way around it- perhaps shattered?) and then armor could add some nice rock spikes and his mantle/chains

Here is my rework of my old lich set, still to be colored:
Really nice lich!

(and the original lich concept for a laugh/comparison)

I was imagining the pilgrimage of a shadow priest through a sinister forest. its a bit dark but i was trying to improve my painting skills

There is an ability icons button in workshop
