Missing root element

I get this error when I start my 3dsmax (2011) : Error parsing Xalm file: Root element is missing. The main ribbon configuration file is possibly corrupt. Reset to factory defaults? Clicking to yes or no, doesnt matter at all, because it will pop up on the next start again, except if I reset it manually.So actually I know how to fix this, and I fixed it like 10 times now, but it comes back often and its annoying.I dont really understand that why it cant reset itself, if it can create a backup file automatically, and if there is a button to reset it.Its just doesnt do anything...Anyone know a permanent fix for this? And why it comes back?

Sounds like it could be a permissions issue. Are you running it with full admin rights? Could also be a bad install. Have you tried running a Repair on it?

Yeah with administrator rights. No, havent tried the repair yet, but I will try.The interesting thing in it is that after I reset the corrupt file manually, sometimes it comes back after a few weeks, sometimes after 1-2 days. So its quite random.My Max works fine besides this by the way.

Yeah, it's a pain that one. Simply deleting the offending XML file sorts it out (Max creates a new, clean one on start-up).

I think one of the service packs fixed that issue, though - might be worth installing them if you haven't already.
