I've been using Mari 2.0 for a few days now to texture my latest project. In terms of functionality and usability, it's really nice. You can do pretty much everything I expect a dedicated painting program to do.

It gets really slow once you start to crank up the resolution and number of UV patches, but I guess that's to be expected of a home PC. I tried 14 patches with 4k maps, each with color, spec, bump and gloss, which slowed down Mari significantly (because of my hardware I guess), to the point of it being unusable. In these cases it's nice that it allows you to cache layers to increase performance. Still not practical though.

I don't think I'll be doing a lot of Hi-res texturing within Mari in the future, since it requires more computer power than what I have, however I am looking forward to texture some game assets at some point. That should be less intensive for the program. Overall a great program.
