Good point, I have looked at it too long and I'm blind. Now that it's the next morning and I have seen what I went to bed with I am ashamed. Why is it in the desert with foresty/urban cammo?
I will redo the enviro base to suit it more! Cheers mate !
Yea hugeeeee improvement! (: Great job! Last crit.. for reals this time.. no more after this i promise. Don't be so harsh on your depth of field... in fact I don't think you need any hitting the actual vehicle. Makes it look tiny! And lastly.. its not worth putting the triangular brace sections under the dirt like that if its just clipping into it yanno? kinda sticks out. But thats it. Amazing job! The vehicle looks stunning and absolutely inspiring in every way!
Personally, I've always hated bases for presenting models. In my opinion it always cheapens the model and makes it look like a toy. That's the first critique I've been able to give, because everything else is seriously top notch!
I think you'd have much better luck with just some simple shots in Marmoset with a black background. I'd also try bumping up the specular values and throwing in some reflection. I think that would get you out of the "toylike" territory.
I love how you have the cockpit hatch open, and yet in ever shot minus one with a bad angle, we do not see the inside of the cockpit. I get it, the butt of this vehicle looks cool. I don't need two screenshots to tell me that. Would like more of the front :>
The water on the turn table base kinda bothers me, it should be flat and more reflective looking. Unless you want it to look like the vehicle just drove through it, but there's no other signs of motion.
Pedro/Polygoo - I have bumped up the shadow more, hopefully it sits better now, better than before anyway, cheers for that !
SteveT - its 86k, making it a bugger to unwrap.
Hitmon - Cheers! I will also do some blank bg shots for my folio, to be honest I didn't see the 'sky background' tick box in marmoset until I had taken these shots :S!
whats_true - sorry champ, I have updated the shots for you
ZacD - I haven't really done base meshes before, I only spent a few hours on this one and couldn't be assed about the motion of the puddles, just think of it as a muted muddy low reflection ooze :S?
Thanks again guys for the feedback and encouragement, here is one more shot of the vehicle with its rockets a tootin'
and the turn table (couldn't get that base to be the center of the rotation )
This is an awesome vehicle but I can't encourage you enough to let this one sit for a while, go do something else for a month or so, then come back and make a new podium that sells the scale and the awesomeness better - the Raktraktor deserves it!

also, thanks again chriszuko, I have made a new base for it tonight, let me know what you think!
Awesome job, just awesome! This will be my new favorite 3D vehicle, alongs with the mechs from Hawken.
Noticed that as well, the way it's in there looks a bit weird.
But outside of that, this is a really awesome piece
One big strong shadow on the ground

I think you should push the spec more but otherwise, congrats on getting that beast done!

Paul68Rageous - Yeah the dirt was done with some splatter brushes I found floating around on google http://www.deviantart.com/art/Splatter-brushes-20653473
