I have stumbled upon this problem here and I really need some help!
I have offset my uv's by 1 in maya but. now whenever I add my normal map I get this visible seam on every uv island. what do I do here? :S
None of those things worked .. I did have padding bumping it up changed nothing really.
What I ended up doing was deleting one half and just mirror it again and then this time I off set those uv's to the positve +1 instead of -1 . dunno if the last part made any difference but it worked out nicely in the end ..

more minor point but you probably don't wanna be mirroring straight down the face and chest either
