I have pretty good setup, so its 20-60 fps, depends on how dense is vegetation. But when I launched the actual level from the launcher, it was constant 30-40 fps, pretty smooth.
K, so recently CDP released a new gameplay of Witcher 3, which shows small port village. And I just got inspired
I dont have much right now, but I have little piece to show. This texture is almost done. All made in PS, I cant learn Substance. I want to make it by hand, not by generators
the house looks beatiful, makes me want to try Cryengine again. Are there enough tutorials? I have pretty old tutorials from Eat 3d, I wonder if they are still relevant.
Its not about learning cryengine, because all shaders and ToD Is default. Its more from art side, and experience. Its hard anyway and there are no tutorials on that matter, its just way of failure and mistakes. And a few people that you can talk with
I dont have much, but I can show somehting anyway: more buildings and another sculpt of stone brick wall. This time it will be darker than previous wall, just to make variation. And All of that is documented on videos, that Im uploading recently to Youtube.
i've just read all the thread and found your progress really impresive. i like your realistic style. especially wood and all ground textures. keep posting
Aaaaaaaaaaand gues what I have for you! Tons of new screens
So I finnaly bought new PC, with GTX 970 and i7 4790, that means Im gonna destroy Cryengine Nah, now serious.
I have few things to show. And I know that models looks heavy (and hell, they are), but Im gonna worry about optimalization when I'll add vegetation, and my PC will burn For know Im gonna leave it as it is, It already have good LoD's.
Im gonna dissapear for a another month or so, for The Witcher of course. But if Ill make update here, there will be cliff, terrain + texture of terrain, and maybe 1 set of grasses.
Indeed. I was already a huge fan of your rocks some months ago, and your sculpting method really helped me since I'm not good at sculpting rocks. Thanks you for all these new videos, it really helps a lot on understanding how to work on this kind of material.

I'm eager to see your witcher inspired scenery !
Sweet damn. Finally someone got through chaos in my videos, and found it usefull enough :poly124: Its always good to see words like this.
Updates will be posted in month or month and half. (my english :poly142: )
Baking fro mphotos is bad idea. For most of foliage. Grass, bushes, branches, pine branches etc, should be baked from HP. Its almost imposbru to find good branches to bake into planes.
For nettles, clovers, single leafs ,detail flowers you can bake it from photos.
I forgot to show HP of Vegetation, sorry. I'll do it next time. Just try to remind me in month or so.
Qucik update: I just finished sculpting the forms of new cliffs, its before final polishing. I should finish polishing before end of this week. And texturing before end of the next week.
Also I'll upload all my bricks, wood etc and those cliffs, to Marmoset Viewer, so you will be able to check it out for yousrelf. But only after I finish those cliffs.
The previous rocks was good, but not good enough to put in enviro and build a coast with it.
Rocks now have new texture: its 3rd approach to them, and now Im satisfied with the texture.
New wood texture. More dirty and light/dry.
New terrain textures/
New vegetation: dry, more beach like.
Skelige is growing up.
Shalom! Finally managed to get some screens for you. Hope you will like it. I spend entire day on making viking ships to show you more complete Skelige, but I failed. It just doenst work well. So I'll make it again, and I'll show you in next update. I know it is a bit flat in village, but crates/cargo, inn and blacksmith yet to come. I just need time.
And I know Im slow with this project, but I like it that way Im not finishing any time soon.
Comments appreciated: if you have any corrections or ideas what to add/change, feel free to post them
Could you tell me how did you set up the floor ? I'm thinking of the mud variation, because it's something that i'm missing when I'm creating ground. The texture is set up with decals ? Because we can't see any tiles, that's good ! Thank you
Sure: Its all terrain layers, nothing special. Just POM enabled. No decals yet. In 9h Im back from work, so I'll make texture samples, so you will be able to see what textures Im using. Check thread tommorow.
Oh damn, almost forgot it. Here are flats. It wasnt simple to get them. The key to blend them nicely is the gloss and reflectance map. Gloss is almost the same in all for those maps. Its even, without any specific details. The rest is little tweaks in Blend Factor and Blend Fallof.
Okaaay ! One more and last question : How can you blend multiples (more than 2) diffuse maps?
Because I can only add 2 diffuse maps. (Sorry for these questions, i'm starting to learn CryEngine)
I need few WIP's, this thread cant be filled only with nice screenshots
I've started last type of pine trees. Its only trunk + moss now, I didnt started making branches yet. To that I have to make additional mushrooms specific to this tye of pine.
Also metal roller: I finished it long time ago, with huge help of friend. I forgot to post it. Maybe its not quixel, but I'll learn to texture metals by hand/myself. Texturing that way is priceless for me. (hope im using this term right).
And last screen is how many trees I have for now. Quiet few I have to redo ferns, they stand out of the rest of grasses and stuff too much.
Updates not so soon, I have quiet a lot to do before posting some new screens, and yes, I remember about breakdowns on stones/wood texture. I just dont have time literally. Home, work, game art. And I dont have vaccation

You have sculpts on previous page. Not for all, I was lazy to capture all of that.

Anyway, I should bring more rocks at the end of week, this or next; i dont know yet. I should be able to finish shore and maybe level up the terrain.
I want to create one village on rocky terarin, with shore. One village on lake, with calm, grassy planes. And maybe city. And swamp. So many ideas :O

@edit. I removed viewer. Im gonna wait until they will support displacement maps and remove file limits. It was really low quality

In about 9-10 min in this video the guys shows how to add layers to terrain editor. But watch entire video, there are some useful tips.
If you have more question; and dont want to wait so long on forum, add me on Skype: jezdziecwschodu
I dont have microphone, so chat is only option. Or screenshare.
@Casly: nope, Im not game dev. Its only for visual experience and learning purpose.
