I used V-Ray for Maya for the render, 3 area lights, 2 shaders (bronze and stone)

Wow man, really like the design. It's giving me a strong Mike Nash vibe. The only thing I don't like is the floral pattern.

Ha! That's exactly where my inspiration came from. NASH's designs are out of this world. The pattern was a last minute decision to make him feel like an elite guard of some sort. ...guess its out of place.

Is it common to sculpt environments? I thought that was mostly reserved for characters or one shot objects.

Trying to speed up my concepting process by reusing old mesh parts. These parts were fused together with dynamesh. The metal parts are from Maya and the rock was sculpted in Zbrush.

I was curious to see if dDo could be useful for 3d stills. For the normal map I used normals for camera space. Here are the maps:

Since the 3d still has shadow and spec info baked in, this grunge map was overlaid on the final scene

Boyo: Most of the mechanical pieces are from my kit-bash library. The rest was sculpted in Zbrush. Zbrush can a handle a ton of geo as long they are separate tools. Each subtool is 2mil max.
