keep going its ok so far, what are you using as reference? if its a real person then you may have gone a bit too comic book with the proportions already
Hey, I'm currently making a female study too. It may be a little too early to comment but what I would change in your model are:
- Forms and rythm need to be refined a lot. Look at lots of photos taken from different angles with different lighting setups. If you have the money, 3d.sk is a great resource.
- Women have space between their legs. The legs don't simply join each other at the crotch.
- The rib cage needs to be deeper and rounder. You may check this by removing the breasts and adding them after you are done with the rib cage.
Not specific to this model: For improving your sense of rythm and action/gesture you can do quick gesture drawings. Check out the 30 seconds app at posemaniacs. Don't worry about making accurate drawings. Just try to convey the action of the figure on the paper and don't think about anything else. These drawings don't need to look good but you may be surprised by how some of them make you remember the actual image.
I dont know what kind of female anatomy you are going for so Im just going to assume its standard pretty girl stuff. Id say your ribcage is too small in height and depth and too pronounced, its like shes holding her breath, rather try use more neutral pose/breathing reference like this bikini model I found on google search:
Hey Dustin, right now the biggest issue with you model is that the general forms of the female body dont feel all there. Right now dont worry about details that all comes when you have a solid model going. right now worry about getting the proportions of your female right, dont just focus on one area work on the model as a whole. here is a cool link someone here on polycount gave me when I was working on my female models (go to section 3)
It would really be helpful to see what reference you are using as well. Keep at it though you just need to keep pushing and you'll get there dont worry
Oh wow this is great!. thank you for the advice.
Its crazy!, I actually bookmarked your portfolio last week because your work gave me inspiration. I want to be a character artist for video games, I do have a long way to go tho. Thank you!.

Also the gap between ribcage and hips is too long and flat, it should all be more of a curve.
hope that helps, keep on going!
and yes, just a standard female body.
Thanks!
Just an update.
