Yo guys,
Thought I'd make a thread for what Ive been working on recently.
'The Souless' is the name for a personal project I'm working on, I'm gonna try and produce a set of characters based around a theme. Then try and get a good high quality looking scene out of em'.
FINISHED:
Anyways, here's the first guy:

Think I'm gonna lowpoly him and go for 'next gen specs'. Try and do that highpoly some justice!
Done a final render.
Reminds me alot of Stepanchikov's Scorpion character:
Check it out if you havent already, could be some good reference for you
@Jon Mills, was just looking at that last night, fucking amazing redesign.
-Also tempted to redesign the back a bit after a friend said it looks like a TMNT from the behind... haha.
Gas tanks anyone? It seems every character like this has a gas tank on the back with tubes and shit.
Little update, decided to add some knifes and an oxygen tank thing on the back, guess it adds to the mask design.
Looking forward to getting on with the game res, with those super high res textures!
Mask feels very hi tech and futuristic, it would work nicely in a far future setting, it could be a non-human invention.
On the other hand other elements, such as pouches, look very close to modern day military equipment, their design is simple and utilitarian. Gas tanks feel the same way.
And most of other areas look like historical clothes, they are sewn in a sloppy way and use crude strings to attach stuff.
It's not like this stuff ruins the model but I'm curious if that character has a back story which would explain this kind of eclectism.
@Blaisoid,
I understand where you are coming from, when I was gathering references for this guy my intention was to try and create a mix of things in the design.
-I wanted him to come across, as some sort of scifi assassin/samurai, but with a military look/style. I spent a lot of time looking at highpoly models for the Iron Man 3 IOS game, I noticed they had a balance of hardsurface/mech looking things but with a transition onto military equipment.
Also as someone mentioned earlier that it reminds them of dishonored, I liked the outcast feel the player character had. Which was a massive part of this. Without rambling on I dunno how to explain it in easy words but thanks man, appreciate the comment
Seriously need a better graphics card!!
-So AO baked out now, took the piss for this guy had to get rid of so many errors.
Just playing with lighting at the moment, diffuse time tomorrow.
looks like the lowpoly +normal map bakes are holding up, looks great, cant wait for actual textures, keep it up mate!
Here some texture WIP
I think you have a bit to much noise in your textures. almost all of your materials and surfaces have the same size and amount of noise in them, kinda makes it hard to read. other then that it looks good.
@Looprix, thanks a lot man!
