Well, that's where I'm stuck, can't seem to pinpoint.

I am using 3 lod's, fbx, a 256x256 tga textures and a 512 (alpha masked) menu tga.

    I once had an error that ended like yours "Target 3 Compile Failed"

    But all i did was quit out, and opened up TF2 and tried again, I'm no where near experienced enough to give advice, but that's what worked for me.

    OK, well I am past this issue now...

    Couldn't tell you what the solution was. I did update, update the sdk...

    But i'm using the in game itemtest (console) beta .

    A few things i have found out about it:

    1- Max 2014 FBX does not seem compatible. But I installed WallWorm SMD exporter and it works pretty good.

    2- Have Max 8 on my laptop and just recently tested from here. Cannon Fodders SMD export doesn't seem to work, but the fbx exporter does.

    it's a pretty nice tool though, you upload each item, the color test works fine. PSD works for the item texture, but I can only get 32 bit TGA to work for the menu icon.

    when previewing you can re-export models and save textures and just hit the refresh button.

    Still haven't messed with jigglebones but i think a quick copy paste will probably work. Works fine too with multiple bones (ie: bip_head, feet, etc...)

    The tf2 font is pretty hard to read as far as the logs go, but they also sshow up in console.
