WIP First Character

Hey folks.

New to the place, but I've heard great things from you guys, so I'd like to take an opportunity to learn from some great artists.

I'm doing several summer projects, and the first one I really wanted to tackle was taking a character from concept to import into a game engine, learning everything it takes to get from one to another.

So far I was toying with a combat based character, close combat with shorter blades and such. I liked the idea of a gladiator, the armor and weapons and such, so I decided to go off sort of on that tangent. Still have a rough design but I'm just trying to get it all to come together.

On top of any critiquing of the design/concept, I'd love to ask questions about the workflow of going from Zbrush/3dsMax/Maya etc. -> Game engine, including:

1. Unwrapping (before or after decimation)
2. Texture sizes
3. Maps and shaders (Thinking Unity for the engine)
4. Overall proper workflow (base mesh in Max/Maya or Zbrush first, etc.)
5. Anything else important I should know

I appreciate any input you guys can give me. Y'all are awesome, keep up the good work!
