Thanks for the tips
I haven't really gotten into UVunwrapping yet, of course i would love to paint it so i guess i'll try it out.
There's trying in the doing, but just aiming to try means not aiming to finish an attempt.
Goodluck in your adventures into modeling, dont let it get you down. There are hundreds upon thousands of basic to intermediate tutorials that should be able to bring you from beginning to novice, to pro in a matter of a few months easy (if you are really working at it every day or so).
Modeling isnt necessarily hard, its the pipeline of creating something unique and taking it to the final steps of getting it in a game engine, or animating it and rendering it out for animation, etc, that take patience, learning and mastery to perfect. I have been modeling for 8ish years, and there is still tricks, tips, and effective shortcuts I learn every single day when I am working. Glad you found Polycount though, this is the MECHA for 3D artists looking to get into games, and other areas of 3D art.
Thanks a lot for the info and motivation. Starting right now i will be putting even more time into learning/practice.
Looks like you might be legitimately new in this case. 3d art is tricky at first but its not all that hard really, looking forward to seeing your next update.
/edit I mean 3d art is not all that hard from a technical standpoint. Being a good artist is ridiculously hard, just thought I would make that point clear.
^ thaths my story
And one more advice, if you cant draw, i strongly recommend to learn, because texturing and sculpting (like Zbrush) requires drawings skills.
lol Yeah complete beginner here, always had the interest though(just never had a good enough PC).
Yeah that's true, requires a lot of time/dedication/practice.
Thanks.
Yeah I'm a pretty okay artist(been drawing since i can remember, just started practicing seriously with bodies though(Because i used to draw Portraits most of the time),I read on benmathis's modeling page how 2d skills are important as well.
Anyway thanks for the input man.
