Hello, I am trying to overcome my anxiety of showing what I am working on with this post.
I'm am a 3d gaming student during my last semester. The program is one year long. I am due to finish in August.
I'm starting to spend a little more time than usual on assets we are making for class and I would like some feedback and to know if the assets I'm producing are portfolio worthy.

I am aware that the retopo isn't good around the top of the drain and that I screwed up the smoothing groups of the black plastic at the top edge.

Thanks for looking.

That's one hell of a beaten up coffee maker. You need o go back and reassess where your grime and damage are. The areas that are going to see the most wear are on the buttons and where people put bang their mugs against when they're putting them under the nozzle.

I can't imagine what would cause the damage around the sides like that unless this thing was thrown in the back of someones truck bed but even then the damage is far too consistent and should be concentrated on the areas that protrude - that includes the curved parts.

You also need to think about your materials - the plastic water tank is going to have a different sort of damage to the metal parts.

Besides adding more wear and tear as Jack has stated, this is pretty good for a prop. You have texture breakdowns? For something like this, effeciency can definitely shine through.

Those edges looks beat up! That coffee maker has seen some action
But yeah you can do away with it and just lighten the edges. The coffee stains will suffice. Maybe some splatter down the drip? I know sometimes i take my coffee/tea too fast and it just splashes down all over that area.

It looks like you did that with DDo. There would never be wear on the plates inside, they are even protected by the red ones.

thats alot better. (did you take help from the cgplus tutorial? In that case, give cred to the tutorial maker Ben Tate) ! =)

If not, it still looks good, but the updated textures are alot better. Reads better.

Thanks, I am not aware of cgplus, but I will take a look. I am not sure if the splashes below the drain look proper.
