Finished my quick project before going back to the monthly competition. Amazing concept by Mango and here is the finished item. Another Abaddon sword! YES!
did you filter your screenshots? the ones from the in-game camera angle look really harsh, and it makes it hard to see the sword.
Filter? Yeah I understand the issue but didn't know the best way to solve it. All I did was paint a sharpen brush on the sword and it helped a little. Would really appreciate to know how to fix that.
I think this is finished. Nothing spectacular but still I believe it can hold for what it is. The learning process has been great, despite how little I feel it is compared to what there is to learn.
I hope you like it and crit so I can improve for future projects.
I started off the default mount and imported it into zbrush directly:

Finished retopo and uv unwrapping and almost done with diffuse:
Its a small sketch to work from but looks like you're doing all right. The general shape of the mask looks ok but the horns are looking a bit blobby and undefined. I would step back down a few subdivs and smooth it out get some nice defined planes. Also, take a look at ram horns for reference on the details
I really dig how this is coming along.
Just on thing: Shouldn't the eyes be holes inside your model? Or will they be cut out in the lowpoly afterwards?
Turned out great, and I'm liking the new horns! Though I'm not too sure I like the dark shadows around the glowing eyes
Yeah, that's what I was talking about. That kind of vignette. If it was removed or at least toned down and then given a bit more of self-illum, it would look even more awesome!

The dark areas, imo and based on some other artists feedback, looked better than without it as it looked a bit flat before. As for the selfillum, I do have it in the mask but strangely, it isn't felt when loaded.
I just did this quick sketch of a BS blade. Might work on it whenever I am free which isn't anytime soon. If anyone is interested to work on it sooner, feel free to get in touch.
Proportions need working and some places need more detail to make it interesting. I liked the shape and general silhouette so thought to capture here.
The mask looks great !! Perfectly fitting, good job
As for the self-illumination, I am running into the same issue too - fully white on the texture map, but barely showing up in the game, not sure why.
Cylinders. I just use simple cylinders. I saw that tutorial. It is a lot of work for a simple handle strap. Though I did try it on a previous weapon. I feel using cylinders is much easier.
And it is in the game. Showcase sure is awesome. Still need to add gradient map and make some light changes to the colors. Should be up by tomorrow. With that said, we decided not to do the inverse axe since it will just not flow well with his motion and it will cut through his arm as he rotates it.
Alright, after some delays and difficulties, we managed to finish this cloak. Stefco's concept really pushed the technical limitations on this one from both a triangle, UV space and rig prespective. We are proud of the results and hope you like it.
I am really not a fan of the face on that weapon. Maybe you could do some research into some skulls, so you have a better idea of how muscles cling to bones? I know it's a wip, but i think some darker shadowy areas might make the sculpt look a little more defined, as well.
Keep it up, though, your sculpting is getting much better! I can see so much improvement in so short a time.Grats!~
Er yes, i know, that's why i followed with 'how muscles cling to it'. ^^; I just felt it's zygomatic arches were a bit off, is all. Anyway, its looking better. Can't wait to see it with some color. :>

Hope you like it! Hitting those 300 tris with this design was challenging.

As for the hand placement, I think I will leave it to Valve to correct, if they by any chance decide to take this mount!
Another day of sculpting to go.
Please crit as much as you can, I would highly appreciate it.

Base Mesh, going to Zbrush soon.
Thanks mate. It is interesting which version they picked up.

I am happy that I made it to top 3, even though I know it will last for a mere moments ^^.
It was on second place too
Thx helped a lot

I worked more on the face and horns and I feel that I reached a point where I can move on. Please feedback any comments regarding the sculpt.
