Ahead of the EuroGamer meet we are going to have another get-together on the 29th June.

The meeting time will be 3:30pm outside Covent Garden Nando's & ready to eat at 4pm

if anyone is coming a long way and wants to crash at my place the friday/saturday night, i can host 2. im in milton keynes though so its still train to london in the morning.

it's the easiest to arrange. you try booking a table for anywhere between 10 and 30 people with at least half of them "maybes" in london, and then try managing everyone paying their fair share (it's been a bad experience in the past) when it's a group bill.

What Lee said. Nando's is the only place I can think of that can serve the kind of capacity that we have at these meets, while still allowing for no shows.
When the meets were only 5 or 6 people we definitely had more options, but splitting the bill with 25-30 people has cost some of us much more than our fair share before, so we won't be doing that again.
Lee and I love to organise these meets, but we have to keep things simple because they are so popular now.

I would also say Pizza Express are ok with large groups, as long as you let them know. As for location, I'd always go for somewhere like Soho, or even 'Noho', plenty of goof pubs that can be quieter at weekends, especially during the day.

Just realised, this is the day before I have to come home from university, so I don't think I'll be able to make it. If only it'd been a week later guys!

is there any chance we can arrange to have the food at like 2pm or something? means we have way more time to socialise afterward, it's normally a 20 minute chat after food before everyone has to jump on their trains home.

That might be a little early, mate. Some people will have to start out really early in order to make it for that time.

Is anyone flying out from Europe on the day this time?

Just noticed this post. Yea, that is cool, but there is still the problem with splitting the bill :P Trust me it isn't fun with such a large group.

One thing we could maybe do in the future is have a system where people pay in advance, but I think that might be a little over the top. :P

I missed the last polycount meet up because of a few conflicts. This time, hopefully, that won't be the case and I'll actually be able to make it, and now that virgin are running around 6 flights a day from Edinburgh to London and back it should be easier this time.

One question though, anyone got any idea how much it'd cost / how easy it is to get to where this is going on from Heathrow? I believe I've been in London once, maybe twice and that was quite some time ago.

you can get an underground travel card that will take you from heathrow to anywhere you need to get in london, not sure how much it costs though... i know it costs £26 for a return ticket from milton keynes into london with full underground for the day, so probably not that much.

@mazz423: I'm from Edinburgh and I've been down for a few polycount meets. Getting to London from Edinburgh by plane is quite easy and affordable, it's flying back in time that's the tricky part. I've opted to stay the night the last couple of times, it's the only realistic way to do it coming from Scotland. But then you have to think about accommodation, which can be a problem.

Day travel card zones 1-6 is now £16.40. Tickets with them built in are heavily discounted. The underground is an absolute rip-off these days

Cheers for the advice guys, gonna try and get my flight this weekend and figure out where I am going once I land in London town.

SCB getting back was the part I was more concerned about simply because getting around a place I'm unfamiliar with with a clear deadline is never fun, and I may just pull an all nighter and grab the earlier fight back to avoid staying at a hotel or park bench or something.

you can pretty much get on ANY underground train from heathrow, and get off at Covent Garden, and nandos is just round the corner. all that really matters is that you have the correct underground ticket (all access is probably best, cos we never know where we'll go for beer).

getting back is equally as easy. all of the underground train lines are colour coded, so you simply find the colour you need, and decide if you need east or west/north or south bound.
