i hope some of you pros can help me with this question that i have been thinking about for some time now:
i try to create a diffuse map for a texture of morroccan tiles like these:

i have sculpted some tiles (mostly edge wear and surface noise), arranged them to the pattern i want in my texture and baked down the normals, an AO map, and so on.
im having problems now to add some color variation to the tiles. photo sourcing appears very difficult as there is no source with tiles big enough to cover a reasonable part of my texture. i also tried color gradients with colors picked from a photosource and a cloud map to control it, but that did not give any good results.
how would you tackle that problem? any advice?
