ESCAPE- Breakout - Tafadzwa Mushawasha

Hi Guys, Im an animation student from UH University and thought I'd give this contest a try! ^-^. Im going for a prison cell type of thing and Im keeping it simple as Im not familiar with UDK but it should be a learning experience ^-^.

Here is my progress so far, my uv's arent great but I've gotten alot better, that was always a massive weak point of mine. atm Im at 18k tris for the whole scene which is still way too high from what I've gathered about game engines. gonna try and bring it down to 9k or lower seeing as its such a simple scene. 479087_10151461732023997_1609227296_o.jpg

I'm not sure where 17k tris would have been used on this, but more importantly, you have some scale issues in the scene, because that toilet looks way too small compared to the chair and bed.

It could also use one of those stainless steel sinks built into the wall. I'm also not sure if that would be the type of bed used in a prison, usually they are fixed to the wall, and have thin mattresses that don't have coils or springs.

I would also unify how the bars on the window are bent, outwards or inwards? (though in reality bars like that would probably be cut by filing or sawing and not be bent, but I understand the aesthetic choice).

Thanks for the feedback! I didnt know what to do in terms of tris as I had no idea what kindoff tri count I shouldve been aiming for until I found a model of a forklift which was 500 tris and using normal maps and such which knocked some sense into me lol. the toilet is a bit small, I'll change that and a sink is in need! I've almost finished texturing, I'll be doing the finishing corrections in a little while

249108_10151469201548997_2087105950_n.jpgHeres my submission for the Polycount challenge. Im not massively happy with it. I wish I couldve gone into more detail and such but I learnt all the techniques as I went. This was fun though and a real eye opener into what type of techniques I can use to achieve certain things ^-^.
