Haven't posted any work here in a while so I thought I would dump my latest high res model. This is a rolling cooler I'm creating for a company called Logo Chair.. I'll be creating the low res model later this week and I'll post my progress here.

Why are you making a low poly if your making it for the company who designed it. Are they going to try and put it in a game or is it for product shots?

Product shots. It's so the company can import all their product lines into Blender, arrange the products on shelves, export for Marmoset, and capture a shot for their sales team. At that point the sale person brings it to a Target buyer and pitches them their newest product lines 'staged' on Target's shelves. It helps the buyer visualize what the product will look like in their store, which helps the company sell their product.

Can't they just import the high-res models into Blender instead?

Yes, but there can be up to 80 products on the shelves at once. Also, they change the color and scheme of the bags depending on where they are being sold. The diffuse texture ends up being on a master Ai file that can quickly be changed out in their graphic design department. This gives them the flexibility to change colors, angle, lighting, and staging without having to pull product from their warehouse to stage for the sales staff.

Polynaut - Wow this looks great! Your modeling skills are brilliant - I'm guessing this is Zbrush?

ToffeeApple - Thank you! Yes, the high res sculpt was done in zBrush and the low res was a combo of pieces from zBrush and modeled in Maya.

Amazing work, looks real. Also is that mesh lining on the sides actual mesh or just a texture?

Vesius - Thank you. The mesh on the sides was baked down from micromesh inside zBrush. The low res is a plane with a normal map and diffuse w/alpha to simulate the high res version.
