so maybe it's best to pick a neutral ambient type of song - I would mute that Imagine Dragons song in a heartbeat. Here's an unorthodox method I just thought of, use music that people in their mid to late 30's think is awesome - those are the people who most likely will be reviewing your demo reel & possibly hiring you!
For example, I was able to find this reel because I remembered the awesome music it had in the background, I saw it 4 years ago! http://vimeo.com/2056276
