Echoing what Ruz said, music is such a touchy thing. If the viewer hates your song, instant dislike/bias towards what they're watching. Better to go with subtle ambiance rather than any particular song (sometimes they just mute it as soon as it starts, maybe they're listening to their own music).
yeah , unless its a demoreel with animations that go hand in hand with the music i dont see much point in putting music on demoreels , its simply annoying and can be pretentious sometimes.
Err dude, looking at your site I can tell you are focusing WAY too much on non relevant things like a fancy website or the music for your reel.
Forget about that stuff, spend the energy on the work that actually matters.
I agree with Xoliul. However, he is probably putting so much work into presentation and such because of school. I see he attends AI Fort Lauderdale... I visited that school once, looked nice. But based on my experience with AI, they tend to put a little too much emphasis on irrelevant details of presentation, music choice and things like that, over a student's actual work.
You may have to do some things to appease your teachers and graduate, but always remember what's most important!
This may be a little off-topic, but for modelers is a demo reel even fully relevant? I know it doesn't hurt to have one, but it seems like quite a time sink with rendering and editing if the people reviewing the work would get the same info from just looking at stills. I'm just speculating here though.

Yea, seconding that: the AI's portfolio requirements are pretty outdated. Some of the faculty though are aware and will let you do what you need to do for your focus. Talk to your professor and explain that a reel is pretty useless for a modeler, unless you're actually doing some kind of idle animation for your characters. You'll hear both sides on the music argument, when in doubt, just don't use any.

Comments: Less of a safe choice but amazing potential. You could montage some of the parts you don't like, though it works pretty well as a whole. Definitely has that old school vibe to it, if that's what you're looking for. If you like what you hear try out the other soundtracks from the Sonic Augmentation release, which just came out.

Whilest the others have made great points, I think there's a lot of fun in conveying your work with the right flow, and I also love sharing music.

unless AiFL has suddenly put a lot of emphasis on the music, just use something ambient & inoffensive, you could probably just purchase a loop or whip something up yourself. I whipped something up in 20 minutes on Sony ACID for my reel and they loved it.

hah--that certainly dates it though, Justin...haven't seen a zip drive in over a decade now. :-)
As for music, I agree with Xoliul and the others, but if you're still on the hunt, just listen to streamingsoundtracks.com for a few days while you work on your portfolio. You're bound to find something interesting there pretty quick.
Well, this was what was on the demo reel that got me my first game job.

The interviewer specifically mentioned how much he liked the music, so I guess I lucked out there.
Isn't Nine Inch Nails's Ghosts album free to use for non-profit media?
If I'm not remembering that wrong, it's a nice option as well. Otherwise, just get a generic ambient/soundscape and be done with it, I doubt your grades rely much on the choice of music as long as it isn't obnoxious.

before I learned/realized that nobody uses demo-reels for the kind of positions I'm applying for.

what if the viewer hates the track. If you are going down that route perhaps opt for some very quite generalised ambient sounds and not 'the birdy song'
