Turn off turbosmooth [3ds max]

Hello,

I have a problem, maybe it's a noob question but I'm new in 3d software.

For example while on model is turbosmooth I save my work and close 3ds max. When I want to continue modeling I open the saved file and there turbosmooth is that I can't delete. I have been searching the solution for some time, tried scripts but didnt's work. Possible the script was wrong, or can't fix it this way.
How to turn it off? I'm using the latest 3ds max 2013.

I would be very thankful if somebody could help me, untill now, when I accidently saved with turbosmooth on, I had been remaking whole model from basics.

Right click and then click on delete or you are talking about the light bulb.

Well what you answered wasn't what I needed but thanks for your reply.

I solved the problem myself, while I was uploading screen to show you I noticed "properties" on the bar. From being curious I've checked it and seen smooth and hard modifer. The hard modifer converted my smoothed object into a boxy object again.

Saving the model with a TurboSmooth modifier on it shouldn't do what you're talking about. That wouldn't be of use to anyone and would be a ridiculous waste of time. Are you using a special plugin version or something?
  • Flurrih
No, no plugins. But as I said using "hard" modifer removes turbosmooth.
And what I was talking about is:
When ur modeling a box and use turbosmooth you can easly delete turbosmooth by right click and delete in modifer list. [You currently had for ex Editable Poly, turbosmooth]
When you load saved box that had turbosmooth before save [and you haven't deleted it] you only have "Editable poly" not any turbosmooth that you could right click and delete.

As I said I'm newbie, I'm modeling since a week and I dont know all modifers and things. But I found a solve for that, to use "hard" modifer. Turbosmooth adds 1 lvl of smooth and hard deletes 1 lvl.

Also sorry for my english, it's not so perfect, I could explain it wrong and you may not understand it well.

I think I understand what you're saying and I'm telling you that shouldn't be happening. :) That sounds like either a bug in Max (which seems unlikely) or you have some sort of plugin doing something weird.

Saving a mesh with a Turbosmooth modifier on top of the stack will, under normal circumstances, open back up the same way you saved it.

Maybe you have something installed that collapses the stack before saving?

Did you save it as an FBX or OBJ or something? Then it'll be the same as if you had collapsed it, yeah. Even so, there are programs than can reconstruct your low poly mesh :)

This is what I think's happening too.
Did you follow a tutorial where someone told you to use the export function rather than save as a .max ?
Exporting is fine when your model is finished of course :)

If you are saving normally then it's very weird that it's doing that, modifiers should save with the max scene :)

I'm saving it as .max , but oh well doesn't seem to be problem anymore when I found hard modifer. Maybe it's bug but happened few times already.
