Hi there folks! This is where i will post my stuff that i am working on for the Dota 2 workshop. The goal is to get better at 3D and to get suffient models for a portfolio.
Will throw concepts in here on a regular basis. If anyone want to collaborate on some items give me shout!

The idea is to make some sort of Goblin submarine salvaged parts. Needs a lot more exaggerated details.
Learning the fundamentals of modeling is more important than just jumping in to a sculpting program and modifying shapes.
I actually have that done already. Do you recommend that i adjust the scale on different parts (which i want to do)in maya instad of inflating in zbrush? I can see how that would get better results. I mapped those before importing it to zbrush so i would be able to that quite fast. The idea is to have like a gnomish feel to it without attracting blizzard Think Kezan territory object. Thanks for the feedback and tips!
And it's done!

I think it depends on what theme you are going for. I agree that modern items may not be the best choice, but this theme i'm going for is a Goblin/Keen engineering type which i think fits ok. I'm sketching on ideas for a full set in the theme, scraps from a goblin submarine where the periscope is included. It's harder to do this theme than i imagined it would be
I don't think you should be discouraged from trying out different stuff, there is lots of room for engineered items. Clockwork, Gyro and Timbersaw for example. Just make them look like the fit the game environment. I say go for it!

Could you put them on something more articulated? Maybe they could be eyestalks of some creature being cooked in the stew? Or maybe they could just be floating in the muck and bob and bounce around.
You could also try to arrange it so your handle is the cauldron's mouth and get some expression in there.
I like it a lot though, very cool
A bit lazy during the vacation, will try to finish the mount for CK soon.
Here is one for Spectre. May need some adjustments to the color.
