Did you tried with different codecs? Maybe some will make video more contrast. However I must admit that on my screen youtube version looks best in my opinion
Man I love your thread. Really inspiring work! I'm quite new to 3d and would like to get in into it more over summer. Thinking of trying to do some dota2 stuff looking at what you do really gets me motivated.
Time to dust off this old thread with some spring cleaning (pun intended). Unfortunately, I got sick after New Years so I only got started on working for New Bloom today, hopefully I can catch up to the awesome stuff I've seen here so far. I'm gonna try to go for double trouble with a combo of LC and Lina, and started on the blockout for both so far. I'll try to give my thoughts on what I need to improve, but I'd love to hear what you guys have to say as well.
Lina:
I think I need to add some more volume to the hair/head, about 50% more, to make it feel relevant. The sleeves/gloves are going to be quite high in terms of how much budget they're going to consume, while not really giving that much of an interesting silhouette to warrant me spending that many tris on them, maybe I'll redo them again, but for now they work. I'm also not quite sure if I want to add the flame designs on the upper arm to the neck slot or the arms slot yet, probably depends on how the budgets work out.
LC:
I thought I had a much clearer picture of where I wanted to go with this before I started than with the Lina, but turned out it doesn't look quite as good as in my head/needs some heavy refinement. The volume of the helmet is off by quite a bit, making it look too big and unwieldy. For the shoulders, I think I'm going to redo everything there except for the fur/orb part and try to tie it in more with Lina's shoulders. Again, this looked better on paper than in 3D and also has the problem of requiring a tremendous amount of tris on very little silhouette change.
Gotta finish the blockout for both tomorrow to stay on the timeline, if you're wondering why I'm posting progress this early, I'm going to try out the artist version of Rubber Duck Debugging by forcing myself to write this :P
I'll post some of the other stuff that's been going on once the New Bloom dust settles.

from the sculpt, the lina's skirt somehow looks like 2 legs hanging from rear view haha.
and LC's back slow kinda like Lich's back now.
can't wait for colour verison to see how far you can pull it and make it awesome
In a continued effort to be more active on the forums, here's some new stuff and some old stuff I did in the past months.
This was a ward I did for the ward chest together with a bunch of other people. I was responsible for concept, modeling and textures and Hayes was responsible for the animation. Shoutout to Oroboros for his texture critique!
Here's some more construction shots of the Lina set for New Bloom:
This is an old ass courier I finally sat down on again and finished baking, still warm from the oven.
And here's some steps along the way that didn't end up making the cut.
After two years in development limbo, we finally uploaded the Fortunes Veil set for Ogre Magi! Collaboration with Stephen Oakley who did the concept and illustration.
I wanted to get three more sets done before the TI deadline, looks like it'll only be one more after this T.T

@Pior I wanted to put the 6 armed courier in there, but I don't think we'll manage in time
