I'd really like to hear on this podcast from people from management and PR game designers on major games, to hear what they think about today's AAA gaming and stuff like that.
Anyway, 1000 views is a good start:) Can't wait for next episode.

yeah, that's a great idea not easy to get those people on though, they're generally very busy
as for that number, that's actually the amount of times the episode has been played
as far as views go, we're closing in on 40 k hits, though that doesn't really say anything. our statistics say that we've had over 4 k visits though, so that has to be a somehow important statistic (internet statistics are confusing)
I've listened to a few, very cool! Hope you can keep up the consistent updates, I listen to podcasts all the time and this would be a lovely addition to my routine.
Oh, speaking of profanity, I haven't noticed any in the podcast yet (maybe I'm not listening hard enough) is this intentional, or no? Because I must admit, even though I like professional and on-point discussions, some of my favorite parts of other podcasts (Like the Crunchcast) involve the podcasters going off on absurd and often obscene tangents, heh.
I haven't listened to the newest podcast yet so you may have noticed/fixed this, but I noticed in the chill-out sunday episode the host introduced all of the people and then they just said "Hi" all at once, and I was a bit confused as to who was speaking through the episode. So if each person gave a short introduction of themselves in each episode that'd be great.

i'm just going to answer your questions in order
as for profanities: we don't have an "explicit content" tag in iTunes, so we try to stay away from too much obscenities. One of the most important reasons is that we are only just trying to make our footprint, and we're trying to be careful and reach as large an amount of people as possible - cursing and things like that kind of immedeatly establish the podcast as "yet another rant cast", which is a category we don't want to fall in we might be more daring in the future, but for now we really need to establish a listener base
concerning the introductions:
if you listen to the newest podcast you'll see that we have been iterating on the introductions but you make a very good point in the latest episode this is indeed not yet the case, though there is improvement - names get used more, and everyone gets a proper introduction.
That being said, we will make sure that in the future, it is clear to everyone who is talking thanks for the suggestion!
we just uploaded a new episode of the gamedevcast, ChillOutSunday this time!
hosted by jason and wiktor (I unfortunately couldn't join), our guests are Andy Davies and Ryan Smith, and they touch on some very interesting subjects, including the next generation xbox, more indie games, and Ryan's project Zero Day!
@Computron: yeah, we really need to do that, indeed. I'm gonna spend my day off tomorrow reworking the podcast website, and i'll be sure to add proper meta data to our rss feed - itunes seems to need a lot of it
of course we also need more ratings, and sadly itunes does not show how many plays we get, though the number of pageviews on the website might be an indication to that. however, we can't count subscriptions or pure itunes listens since it's nothing more than the regular rss feed getting processed, so our data is really unclear there as to how many listeners exactly we have...
that being said, rest assured that some proper stuff is on the way
@chris: awesome you would be welcome of course to get on and share your thoughts with us ^^
I really like your show. Some of the discussions are interesting and it is good to see different opinions about our industry, from developers themselves. But, since there is already a lot of game journalistic websites, talking about industry state.
I was hoping to have more discussion about game development inside specific studios. Maybe to have more inside information for different studios, workflows, decisions for specific titles.
for example: Specific discussions in game development depending on the guest specific work. Art, Design, music, sounds, programing, ....
I remember a good podcast, which was posted on polycount awhile ago. It had very interesting inside information and good topics.
@warhawk: that would indeed be good, but it's not easy to get people on who are willing to do that - as a general rule we try to avoid the project our guests are working on, to avoid getting them into trouble concerning NDA's and various other issues that come with discussing work projects.
as for development itself, there's only so much you can talk about - the workflow is generally pretty much the same throughout the industry afaik, with some differences of course, but making game art is the same whether you're working on Bioshock Infinite or Minecraft, it's just a different implementation
it's a good suggestion though, and we will definitely use it
I was only hoping that in future, maybe the volume could be turned a bit higher? I have to set my speakers to max and it's a bit hard to hear anything ( i don't seem to be having same problem with podcasts in general, like on other sites though).
I do agree with warhank, it would be great to hear maybe something more specific to creating actual visuals, like creating assets or maps. Doesn't have to be specific, maybe just some rought description, how do you guys organize work, do you set up certain rules, maybe you have some specific need for different type of terrain or something...and you approached it in different way...or even if the process of creating visauls isn't anything special, i think especially many younger guys (and gals :P) who are just starting, would be interested to hear about these things!
Other then that, great work guys, keep 'em coming!
@Zocky - i have had this problem sometimes, and we're not sure what causes it, but apparently it can be solved by simply increasing the volume on the soundcloud widget - i always do a test listen and never have any problems with it myself, which is why i would not know how to prevent it happening at other people's pc's
it does seem that it only happens when we upload the system sound - normally we use local sound which is much better quality (which you may have noticed when listening), but with the latest episode (which is up btw), we were forced to use system sound because of technical issues...
so for anyone who hasn't noticed: the third episode has been released!
I've been meaning to listen to these at work, but soundcloud never works there, finally got them all downloaded and will give them a listen today. I always enjoy hearing Ryan Smith and Jesse Sosa talk.
this time we're joined by Chris Radsby and Matt Kazan from Ubisoft, and we talk about everything from EA's star wars license to Valve's secret desire to measure your sweat. Enjoy.
we just released a new episode of the gamedevcast, this time we're joined by andy davies, sean vangorder, gavin goulden and chris holden; we talk about various things including, but not limited to, piracy, nintendo and kickstarter.
we are also joined by Leigh Jackson, who is developing, along with Paul Jancar, the game Kingdoms Rise inside UDK.
Leigh also provided us with some sweet videos and screenshots:
we were more negative than usual this time, but i feel like we kind of balanced on the edge of reasonable/casual conversation there, so i guess i feel pretty good about it
with E3 around the corner there's gonna be loads to talk about in the coming weeks and monhts, so i'm very excited to dig into that stuff!
And this time, our Indie Game of the Week is Viscera Cleanup Detail - I am sure many of you will have already seen this wonderful indie game, and I can tell you that I have an interview scheduled with the developers later this week, so stay tuned for that
@vertrucio: i'll look into that - our rss feed is generated by Wordpress, so seeing as we also do blog posts with no mp3 files attached to them, that may be the reason for your problem. It's something I've been looking into either way, since that's what broke our iTunes feed as well
New episode, in which we reminisce about ye olde times, discuss the rising issue of developer harassment by gamers, and look forward to what we're going to see at this year's Gamescom.
Gravity Bomb is a fantastic little indie game that has you playing with the orientation of the gravity in order to complete levels, and it does that pretty creatively. It starts off slowly, letting you get to know the most basic mechanics, but it quickly picks up speed, having you jump around like crazy in no time, switching gravity at a very fast rate, and leaving you wanting for more every time you die. It’s ridiculously addictive, and since the demo is free, we recommend that everyone that reads this should go download it and have a couple hours of fun.
It has been a while since I updated here, so I'll give you guys the whole shebang on what has been happening since our last post.
First, we have Episode 15, which was released the day before Valve's first in the row of three announcements they made on what later would turn out to be SteamOS, Steam Machines and their haptic feedback controller. The original three hosts of the podcast get together for the first time in months on this one, so it's definitely worth the listen.
This is our latest episode, which is also our very first video episode, so that was a big step for us.
Last but certainly not least, Zachary Burns joined me for the exclusive reveal of Chess 2: The Sequel, which he was gracious enough to give us the reveal opportunity for, check it out:
All of the above also comes with a massive update to the site's layout, which we hope will now help in easier maneuvering through our updates and posts in the future. Work is still being done, but the groundwork is there and functioning. Feedback is, in the good tradition of this forum, of course more than welcome!
So happy to see a new episode. GameDev and Crunchcast have been kind of quiet recently and I've really been hankering for one.
Keep up the good work. Creating online content rather than just consuming is an admirable thing. For what it's worth, I really appreciate the time and effort you guys put in

We'll have to do it again soon!
Let me know if you guys ever want a grumpy senior artist to chime in on any subjects.
Anyway, 1000 views is a good start:) Can't wait for next episode.

Same here - if you guys need extra profanity for an episode, just let me know!

You guys should consider getting some proper metadata/album art/chapters, for your iTunes podcast.
I also need something new for gaming, so I thought, hey, why not get a better one than my headset.
