Post your favorite concepts for next month's challenge. The challenge starts in 5 days. Vote for concepts you like, the most liked concept will get chosen.
Keep in mind it has to be good for one month!
This month had a lot of participation, our thread hit 27 pages and is still going!
heya, I recently started a blog-thing with concept art that can be useful to 3d artists (environments that can be recreated in 3d, illustrations, things like that)
I'm going to try to post some noob-friendly environments over the next week or so, maybe you guys find something you like.
Here are some of the environments I've already posted;
While I did not participate last month due to time I may try and get in on this in March. Here is a concept I saw the other day that might be an interesting one to do.
also really like the last one (5} that R3spawn put up. Small and really interesting to see a vertical space.
Hi all o/! So I've been following Polycount for a while now, lurking in the shadows gaining inspiration and tips and I thought it was about time I had a crack at one of these challenges.
So for my two pence worth my vote goes towards r3spawn's post no.5 and just to be cheeky, AlexCatMasterSupreme post no.4 - even if it looks quite simple, that leaves a whole load of room for ones own interpretation (if that's allowed of course).
Then again maybe I should of waited a few day's before I picked!!
Last month's challenge taught me that a month is essentially 4 weeks and that is not a whole lot of time to model, texture, light, and polish an entire scene. I am still going to work on my temple environment as the original plan was to give myself more time to polish it up, and for March's challenge I'm keeping the time limit in mind.
Having said that, I think this one is doable:
Edit: I also like that this one leaves a lot of room for interpretation, like this month's current challenge. Like I can really see people having fun with changing up the style/silhouette of that house, and adding their own props around the scene.
Oh man, I've been drooling over this concept for a while, I even tried to figure out what the chinese writing was.
I had to email my friend in china, the guy who translated 50 shades of grey from english to chinese, and he couldn't figure out all of it.
If not for that I would have started already, I think, but I like this one a lot for this.
Hopefully this worked right, but I vote for #1 or #2 that Alexcat posted. January just had a Sci-Fi interior so it would be nice to have something other then Sci-Fi again so soon.

I love this, nice and simple but really nice lighting can be achieved. This gets my vote.
A small enough space so ppl can focus on getting all of the modeling/detail done and simple in terms of tilable textures. The lighting is very unique and and gives off different meanings: clinging to life; reaching for freedom; loneliness; an eternal prison, etc.
Either of those two, I think it'll be nice to have some outdoor/natural stuff instead of the mainly hard surface stuff of this month. Plus I might get involved with one of these two.
So I'm definitely feeling sci-fi too, I think this FOV gives a great perspective on the entire scene. Honestly I wouldn't even know where to begin with all of these terrain-heavy environments.
My suggestion, I know it looks simple, but I think it has potential to be a good challenge
It looks simple? awww dude, sometimes the hardest things are those look like simple
I think it's veryy difficult to have a very good lava / water / clouds / pastel sky, a pretty nice cherry-tree... The scene have not a lot of elements, but all need a lot of attention and a good understanding of shaders / particles.
However it's true your pic is a very good artwork Work on it will procure a lot of fun

If not this one, then I love concept #2 with the house on the water. Lovely.

I've been going through Craig Mullin's stuff and found this.. seems like a cool noob friendly environment.

could we set up a thread with an actual poll? does this message board support that?
and a non-sci fi one
Is that a valid way to vote or should we link the images we want?
Totally valid way. Anything goes.

Wow, I love it.
Also, I really like this one:
It`s cool and so.. modular ))
Sci-fi would be a nice change from the temple. I do like the asian scene a lot though as well
and this
and a little bit sci-fi would be nice too
Browsing through Respawn's blog, i found this beauty:
Way over my skill level but its a great challenge. Otherwise i can agree with any other concept art from respawn's blog.
Finally, i also vote for this image. It seems simply, but the high FOV makes it slightly more challenging than it should be.

This one could be very fun to work on.

Even I may be able to do this one, i hope...

I'd like to see the works for this one. Looks interesting with the rocks and the lighting.

I would be pretty content with trying either of these two. Haven't dived much into outdoor stuff, much less anything. So it would be a nice change.
+1

Yes sir.
