As you can see with all of the artists listed above, they are all good at 2d and 3d. They are just good at art. =D
even though they have overlapping areas when it comes to fundamentals ,its still two different things, being a good artist in general depends more on your mindset about art and the way you practice it imo.
Really you shouldn't place a line between 2d & 3d, it's all the same.
Can't really agree, although maybe we're getting our wires crossed and I'm misunderstanding. On my old course at Escape, a couple of the tutors did some really badass work in ZBrush (some of it was incredible) but they drew worse than a 3 year old
I myself feel I could get way better results working in a digital sculpting medium than I could ever get drawing/painting... having said that though, it won't harm your work to improve at traditional art (should probably start doing that myself!)
JacqueChoi - oo i have seen some of Jfletchers stuff before, really nice. Josh is a new one to me thank you
Mask_Salesman yeah i totally agree that the Art is the same, things like colour theory and anatomy ect, but i do feel there is a difference in the skillset between 3d and 2d.I have no doubt at all that learning one will benefit the other hugely !

You are either a good artist, or you are not.
