Decided to start making generic prototyping assets for game designers and programmers. Not too sure how many people would be interested in purchasing such a pack. but i think i can fulfill some niches that haven't been filled.
One of the differences is the sheer number of effects, as the biggest problem with purchasing pre-made assets is that there usually isn't enough quality or enough of the same thing in the same style.
They will be sold for $5 with free access to all the updates to the pack, with the price raising every time there is an update.
I'm aiming for at least 20 effects to be in the v 1 of this pack. (hopefully ending up at over 100 when I'm finished if there is the support for it).
This is just working in the first style of the pack, I'm planning on a few different styles.
What sort of effects would you guys like to see included?

I would personally totally buy it if there were some good flame/fires and smoke effects.
Thanks!
And besides I'm not sure what you would get out of it that looking at the animations frame by frame wouldn't tell you. I learned my fire method from frame by framing Hades from Disney Hercules.
Effects animation is all about understanding motion, and arcs. Probably the hardest thing is making looping effects, but i don't have any great methods for that other than just tweaking it till it looks right.
thanks guys.
Refried! Yep muzzle flashes are already planned.
I'll probably make a faq with some images about how you can run photoshop actions over an effect to make them more suitable for 3d games or games with more gradients in the style .
Thanks guys!
Also... wip campfire. It's wip as it is only one colour and the looping isn't very natural. I need to remove motion that doesnt flow nicely in the loop
Is this the sort of thing people want with muzzle flashes?
Fixed up the fires motion a bit still not happy with it. Also here is a half frame rate large fire. Need to inbetween it still.
Thanks guys!
Eshan. This is toonboom. You could get exactly the same results using flash though
Trying to get enough done today that i can setup the pack soon. As it will be an ever growing thing.
These probably need to be slowed down.
Smoke effects next.
Any suggestions for things?
Looking at the exported files i think i want to clean up some of the tighter motion on a lot of these. Although they have good motion they can look a little messy when you have 512x512 frames on your screen haha.
Also i think I'll go with GumRoad for the purchasing system.

Really they are just both tools which are better for different things.
With the looping stuff it can be really annoying so i tend to try and key frame it as much as i can, as you have to loop your arcs if you want to hide the loop points.
I've made more than these but i'm not going to post gifs of everyone for now.
What do people think of this explosion style?
Probably going to add more colours to the beam.
Added a tank for the laughs.
really makes me wanna try this stuff out for myself, just with much worse results. And i'd probably drop some cash on this just to learn from it, would feel bad using other peoples art in my own prototype biz tho. Can definitley see how this could come in handy tho ^_^
Explosion looks good, though it seems a bit soft and slow for a large explosion. Could work well for a computer console going it. It already seems to have that fizzy electrical feel to it.
Stink, yeah i got some other comments like that from some people. I think i tend to agree, I'm going to leave that one as is as it still has uses in places but I'll try and make the other ones a bit forceful.
I think i might include a 2-3 page pdf on how to create this sort of thing, as it seems a ton of the interest i'm getting is working out how to do this stuff all yourself
Little preview
Asure, haha nope. I know nothing about vertex vol2. Besides isn't that all 3d art?
edit: DOH! just read AzureXIII's post, NM!
