as said in the title, i'm having some trouble with the attribute editor in Maya 2013. i have a subdivide proxy on one of my models, but once the history is deleted, the link between the two objects becomes broken and i can no longer edit the low poly object and have the edit appear in the high poly.
my question is; is there any way to save the attribute in the attribute editor so that it doesn't get deleted once the history is deleted (like how the lambert shader doesn't get deleted for example).
SIDE NOTE: i'm using the subdivide proxy because it has the control of the desired effect i want, where pressing 3 or putting a simple smooth, or just smoothed edges, on it won't work for the effect i want it to have.

Never used it before, but did a quick test. It kind of works.
Tested it with a bend deformer and extruded some polygons afterwards. Deleted non deformer history, but now it changes the order things were done.
Just to clarify, made a cube, smoothed it twice. Applied a bend modifier. Extruded some faces.
While the face extrude's use the bent model, the moment you delete non deformer history, the extrudes will be applied to the original, non bended model.
So the order would be, cube > smoothing > extruding > bend.
Maybe someone else knows something better..
that does seem to help, but now all my smooth edge attributes are still there XD ahh the troubles of maya... will have to do for now. thanks bb0x
