This is great news. Let's hope this breathes new life into Vigil, or at least gives the devs some new opportunities.
I do have to ask, where did you obtain this information?
Edit: Sorry, the big obvious green link wasn't apparent enough for me...
Kinda makes me regret leaving town. I don't know what the project is, but they seem like a studio where I could learn a lot. I wonder who the ex Vigil peeps are?
such awesome news, do we know if they are using the same building as Vigil?
seems crytek are really sweet at picking up studios after they go under. Its a fantastic sentiment but also very clever from a business stand point. I remember them picking up free radical and was really impressed. Im still not sure where they are getting all this money from though haha, nano suit copyright from indie developers maybe haha.

Crytek have military contracts out the wazoo. Gaming is a pretty small part of their bottom line.
One thing that bothers me from reading this article is that Crytek isn't purchasing the Darksiders franchise. I understand they got a lot of the Vigil talent, but really? Darksiders is an amazing franchise...
It also mentioned that the Austin studio will be focusing on online games, so I wonder if they are going to revive that MMO they were working on?
Quote: Yerli also made clear that Crytek was not intending to purchase THQ's Darksiders IP.
Typically modeling and simulations for training. We don't use it here, but for a time we were actively looking into switching to CryEngine 3 but it fell though. Realtime Immersive tends to be their studio that handles Sims.
They have an entire section on their site regarding what they call "Serious Games." They actually do quite a bit but it's never anything you'll really see unless you are using it for training.
Stalking horse bidder isn't a cool word, its a legal term for someone who has made a public bid for the company already. It was Clearlake Capital, not sure why you think its Microsoft.

Crytek's new Austin studio could be a second chance for Vigil

Didn't recognize the name, but I just did my science. Thanks for pointing that out.
Whoever is making these Crytek dev mugs is going to make a fortune. :poly142:
Glad to see Vigil folks landing on their feet!
You get cool mugs!? *fills out application*
Ideal size for an AAA startup - that studio will expand quite quickly as the team gains direction and a project gains traction.
Its great to have even more awesome talent in the Crytek family
Awesome news, I can't wait to see how this develops!

Really? What does Crytek do for the military?
