Hi folks.
First of all I'm sorry for asking this kind of thing. I'm sure it gets asked here alot. Also wasn't really sure where to put this thread seeing as there isn't a beginners section.
Second: This place is full of awesome. Spent the past week just looking over stuff and there's so many talented people in here producing high quality stuff.
What I'm looking for would be if someone would be able to point me in the right direction for beginners guide of sorts to 3ds max. I downloaded the student version of Max and Blender and had a little play around with both but just didn't seem to like Blender even if I wasn't really sure what I was doing.
Not looking for a comprehensive series or anything more just sort of heres the basics to the interface, modelling and texturing with maybe a small project at the end of it that incorporates what was previously shown. After that though I'd probably just go off on my own and learn as I go. Just need a kick in the right direction. Video series would be preferable as I find that the best way to learn but not averse to written tutorials either.
Mostly interested in low poly stuff but don't want to limit myself to one particular area.
Again I'm sorry for asking but my searching around hasn't really turned up anything in particular that seems to be grabbing me.
Thanks.

Here is a great tutorial on a M4, this guy is a great teacher and he explains things really well, however he kind of leaves you high and dry since he hasn't finished this project yet. However it will help you out a lot.

I'll have a look over the various sites you've mentioned.
I did however have a look at the Digital Tutors site AlexCat suggested. Actually seems pretty good with alot of content on there. Noticed that their introductory series is free which is a bonus as the sub to the rest of the content will need to wait a week or two but theres also a few other free series which should keep me occupied till then.
Thanks again folks. Hope to join in the community properly at some point .
I know in other applications the help menu typically isn't very helpful but in max its great. It covers a lot of the basics and a bunch of advanced stuff. The actual "help files" (separate document, press F1) are great at explaining every button and feature.
The help menu also links to other popular autodesk learning places so rock that help menu, it really is helpful.
Really? I'll check them out then. I pretty much gave up on other in program help menus a long time ago.
Thanks for the help folks. Got plenty now to keep me busy for a while.
